I would also think, most are some sort of LLC or other corporation, thus, palming the losses off to the creditors. The actual owners will walk away clean, with a fat bank account. A smart business plan always uses some one elses money.

I have no sympathy for the businesses, they are there to make money off of people. The workers, some, maybe. Not all workers need to be punished, they need a job. You go into business to make money, becareful of what business you choose. If they chose to get rich selling cigarettes, and state banned cirgarettes, that would have been a bad business choice!

Most tiimes, I agree with you, not on this one.

They should have been better prepared ie: the laws on gambling .

They can still run their internet cafe's....heck, I will stop in and log on with my laptop next time I'm in Rock Hill. That is if they are still there.....

I agree this is going to hurt them financially, but again, the risk vs. reward factor was in play( no pun intended ).

DD

Don't be confused. If your state can make money off of it, it is legal. Otherwise it is illegal! There would be legislatures jumping out of buiildings if people actually quit smoking and drinking. The money would dry up. Then they would have to legalize drugs, to make up for the losses! Yes, based on the past 40 years, America's future is not looking that great

As time goes on we can foresee the problem growing greater and greater as it did in 2000 when people were losing their cars and their homes, York County Sheriff Bruce Bryant said. It's obvious that we're headed back in that direction. We want to sort of nip it before it gets out of hand.

I thought this all along, they don't care if these people lose their cars and homes, what they care about is the money leaving SC and old money being cut.

I believe this is the big factor in why the NC... [ More ]

Businesses say despite payouts, games aren't illegal gambling

South Carolina authorities seized 464 gaming machines and computers Thursday from 13 York County businesses accused of hosting illegal gambling just over the N.C. state line.

Drawing attention were an increasing number of Internet cafes where customers played video slots with prepaid cards. Business owners defended them as legal sweepstakes. Authorities, however, said the cafes, which pay out money to winners, are thinly veile... [ More ]
