Yes, I love this game and play every draw every week. What is so great about it is that you can play for .25 cents, .50 cents , or even $1.00. $.25 cents a draw pays $1.25 for 3 of 5, $25 for 4 of 5 but $25,000 for 5 of 5. Odds are 1 in 278,000. This guy played 13 tickets for $1.00 a piece which paid $100,000 a piece. I still believe VA has the best Pick 5 game.

I used to double my numbers in a state super lotto; figuring if I won that I'd get 2/3 rather than 1/2. I won near $1000 two times vs $500ish

There were 5 winning tickets at the same store in Miami last week.

However, in Florida the pick-5 is a daily game and the jackpot is split. Still, it means that he got 5/6ths of the prize and the other person who hit it only got 1/6th. So if it was $270,000 he will win $225,000 and the other person will get $45,000.

There are more players doing that than one might suspect. The same thing happened a few years back in Ohio with its Buckeye5 game (5/37) and Ohio had a maximum payout of $1M per game. The player bought 20 tickets and along with another player won, but instead of getting $2M ($100K per win) as he hoped, he got 20/21 of $1M and he sued the lottery and the store claiming they never made him aware of the limit.

He lost the suit because the court said it was his responsible to read the instruction... [ More ]

I assumed that since they quaranteed $100,000 winner per ticket that they would have a large number of numbers to choose from. This game is only 5/34!!!! The odds of winning are about 1 in 250,000. That is not bad odds at all. I mean the jackpot to be only about half the odds, that is hard to come by these days. And they pay up to $2,000,000 per drawing for matching 5/5. I want to play this game...haha

Congratulations to Mr. Peterson!!, Virginia's cash 5 must be different form other states, I thought that usually the cash 5 jackpot is pari-mutual. I usually buy multiples of pick 3's of the same numbers with no success, but it is nice to see some one hit using the same numbers on the same day! The lotto commission must be besides themselves!!

James Peterson of Hampton, Virginia, doesn't make it a habit to buy so many tickets when he plays the Virginia Lottery's Cash 5 game, but he made an exception last Saturday.

I just had a feeling, he later said.

He purchased 11 tickets for the Dec 13 drawing and he also purchased one ticket each for his two sons. All 13 tickets contained the same five numbers: 10-13-18-23-30. Each ticket won $100,000.

Peterson's winnings came to $1.1 million.
