Yeah I'd like to know this too.

I'm speculating that either the real winner had in fact signed the ticket and Patel was too stupid to realize this

Or

The real winner started 'to feel' something was off and contacted the TNEL.

hopefully somebody knows and can enlighten us.

I'm assuming this is why we have very noticable sounds and lights on our lottery machine where I work at. I've noticed when tinkering around in the lottery machine that the machine has a sound and light control, but you can't turn them off, only perform diagnostics.

Hate to say it, but it doesn't matter red yellow black or white...Or brown. Greed makes them all see Green and they'll take it any way they can.

gas stations are lazy person way.

in tn, kroger and publix sell tickets in stores also around here.

i always buy my tickets at my local kroger anyway, , and yet to have a person cashing my winning tickets try to scam me out of it

it must be the hard fact, i can call over manager in such a place, and start bitchin if they ever did try to pull a fast one. sense grocery store managers don't like having their customers scammed by their workers.

Maybe Tennessee should do what Kentucky does.. The people here in Kentucky don't go into those types of stores, gas stations etc.. We just had a Marathon close last week with a owner from another country.. Only go to American owned stores.............. wake up Tennessee... You go to those stores you deserve what you get.

And the Tennessee Lottery will milk it and ride it forever now, like they finally did something.

They caught this one because the guy cashing it in was named Pushcart Patel, which automatically tells you he has a connection to a convenience store. If he wasn't named Patel he'd be back in Punjab living like a Maharajah with Mr Chase's money. Just like a lot of them are, no doubt.

I'm actually glad they didn't reveal HOW they caught this fool. More people will be caught if they try this as well.

But if Patel had signed the ticket I wonder if they would've caught him? bearer instrument right

At that time, lottery officials conducted investigation and discovered what had happened.

glad to see my state lottery can do their job right in 1 regard at least.

clerks trying to scam people out their wins, is very real threat.

but bigger threat, is idiots who can't check their own tickets or do any thing for them self's, and have blind trust in others they don't know.

also the lottery really just needs to make sure their self check machines in ever store where tickets are sold, with great signage, and with plz don't waste clerks time for losers, check them your self here,... [ More ]

The Tennessee Lottery on Tuesday presented a $200,000 Powerball prize to a Sumner County man whose winning ticket was allegedly stolen by two convenience store clerks earlier this year.

The clerks were arrested and their case is pending in the Sumner County court system.

I am so thankful for the work that has gone into getting this prize to me, said Roy Chase, a retired employee of the Ford Glass Plant. This is a blessing for me and my family.
