Anyone who gives a ticket to be checked would think like that, I'm not surprised. I would never give anyone a ticket to scan, and i would be cautious to scan it myself , you never know who might be watching including the clerk .Haven't you heard of clerks going to jail for lottery fraud. That means they can rob you , kill you or have someone do it for them .The hardest thing is to win, but it seems like people make it difficult after they've won, looking for danger. Not unheard of had a friend in Carolina that did the same thing with a game called extreme green many years ago . 4 tickets in a row and 3rd was the highest prize payout . Congrats

I don't see a problem with what she did I mean as long as the ticket she gave the clerk was the same one that she was given back in return you know like if the person was shady and gave them back a loser or something. While you have the winning ticket stored safely. Consider creating an LLC and a Living Trust.

Limited Liability Company and a Revocable Living Trust.

The LLC will protect your assets the Trust will not. The Trust is to avoid probate.

A Will will have to be probated. UGH

In some states winnings over $5000 can't be validated at store terminals, but that doesn't stop a clerk from knowing the value and telling the player the ticket is worthless of a much lesser value. It's getting so bad here, I expect clerks to try and cheat me.

Asking her husband to hold the ticket while he was working wasn't the smartest thing to do either, but all ended well.

B. Raymond Buxton purchased his $425 million dollar Power Ball winning ticket in Milpitas, CA.

I did not know about the CA Lottery personnel seizing the video footage of him scanning the ticket. I will now only let the Lottery District Office scan it when I claim my prize.

I am sure that I would have convinced myself that I am the winner by going to different websites. USAMega will be first and often.

Yes Music! The Fremont jackpot winner from 2012 scanned his winning ticket a few times, but did not hand it over to a clerk to verify it. However, he s actions alerted the CA lottery Commission, and they sent in their squad to seize the video footage to identify the winner- that was so wrong! The other winner from MN back in 2015-16 * l think, actually handed the winning to fellow coworkers to verify that he was the winner.That was extremely careless behavior. When you think that you have a winning ticket, slow everything down. You have six months to one year to claim your prize.

Whether or not you sign the back of the ticket is State specific. Remember New Hampshire

l think it's human nature G5. The disbelief of winning and winning big, is a shock to the system. We do it all the time in other suttle ways. You standing at an intersection and someone gets rear ended, we turn to the person next to you and ask did you see that? - it's called Verification, of sorts. But l hear you..

Maybe it's just me, but I cant understand why in the world when players first learn they've won a large sum of money that they would voluntarily hand their big winning ticket to a clerk to have them check/verify it for them!!!

A lot of winners have done it. I've seen it in just about every winners story I've ever read. Sure they're shocked and excited by their big win, but the last person I'd hand a big winning ticket to is someone that I do not even know their first much less their last name... [ More ]

While the chances of winning on particular tickets is random. There are still always a set amount of winners in the book. Once I scratched the first 10 tickets from a book, and it had 9 winners. The rest of the book had maybe 2 more. Go figure.

Women as Ruth is showing us are more likely to invest in business while the men drink it up. LOL

Although it was a small jackpot it really helped to pay those bills. $75,000.00 before taxes.

A Kansas woman who bought three scratch-off lottery tickets skipped one because she thought there wouldn't be two winners in a row but she was wrong.

Ruth Wright of Kingman told Kansas Lottery officials she bought three $10 Tiger Pride scratch-off tickets at the White's Foodliner store in Kingman and the first ticket she scratched revealed some good news.
