I don't doubt for a second that he's so far out at the stupid end of the bell curve that it's nearly impossible to tell that it has a slope, but even exceptionally stupid people would have given up sooner despite their inability to understand something a goldfish could figure out. I totally understand that she didn't win the half a million, but the clerk told her the jackpot was a half a million so now she is responsible for giving the clerk $250,000, it's only fair. A thousand a month could workout.

She won $300, she split that with him, which she really didn't have to do. She's happy (not gonna sue him), he's happy, it's a happy story. Quit taking a dump on it.

Correct, she never said that but the clerk did. He said the jackpot was a half a million dollars, and she said if she wins, she'll split it with him. So she owes him $250,000.

It's not stupid. If I told you I was going to give you $250,000 and I didn't man up, you'd be pissed too.

It's not his fault that she has to find a way to muster up $250,000 ...but that's the way life goes, you make a promise you got to stick to it. Oh well!

Maybe she could do monthly payments, say, couple of thousand dollars a month until she pays it off

Dude, WTF are you talking about? YOU read the story wrong. The clerk told the woman she could win the 500K prize but she did NOT. The woman only won 300 dollars and she split that with the clerk. His half of the money was 150 dollars. This lady is one of the nicest in the world. How many people would split such a small amount of money with a total stranger

Something tells me that if the prize had been $500,000 as the clerk originally thought, it would not have made a difference to his woman. She would have come back and honored her word. My grandmother used to tell me, when you get that age, your word is everything.
