As is, FL will release a name right away, but it's already possible to have them release a name that's not yours.

If your plan after winning a jackpot is just to get out of Dodge I suppose the 90 days lets you claim the prize in a hurry and then after you've claimed the prize you can use the 90 days to do things you should have done before claiming it, except for choosing what name gets released if you ran to the lottery office too soon.

They already have something like 180 days (in Florida) after the draw to get their affairs in order before they have to have to come forward and claim the prize.... This 90 days is, I guess, only after they claim the prize..

Not much of an improvement.

Weird.

Most winners rarely are high profiled or hiding under their beds.

The few gems that were hyped up for their extraordinary circumstances are becoming the broad stroke of: gee if it happened to them...I better hide .

Be transparently wise. If you can't handle the responsibility ... Don't play or claim. This entire anonymous claim bill being herald is an appeasement .

Here in Australia, all winners have the right to remain anonymous, very few winners go public. It goes back to the 1960s, when a lottery winner's son was kidnapped and killed, the right to anonymity was introduced after that. The vast majority agree with the right to anonymity, as they would like to have the same right, should they be so lucky.

This is a good gesture by the lawmakers, but 3 months is not a lot of time if you suddenly win 300 million dollars. There are a lot of crooks and scam artists in Florida. I also had no idea DeeDee used the i'm writing a book scam on Shakespeare before ripping him off and killing him. Thanks for the info Kate.
