I've always maintained that I'd prefer lower top prizes with better odds. If you can't be happy with $4 million, I don't see what $20 million will do. For the drawing games, I think the MegaMillions should cap the top prizes at $250 million and roll down the payouts to lower tier prizes to make the game more exciting. It would be better than just winning $2 once in a while.

You are correct and I stand corrected. Although Massachusetts has a variety of tickets with higher odds the entry point to purchase them is much lower. I suppose it does depend on the risk aversion strategy of players.

No mention of the payout percentage. That's the most revealing number. It indicates how much the State lotto is ripping off the players. The lower the payout percentage, the more the players are getting ripped off.

One-armed bandits have better payouts than most State lotto games.

This is a scam. I made the experience of buying 10 $20 tickets on a row and I won only $20. All the tickets was loses. So you could buy like 6 tickets and win nothing or just the $50. It's a trick

The only way I put down $50 for a scratch ticket is if I already won $50 or more on a less expensive ticket/s.

It is BIG enuff letdown when you buy a $20 scratch ticket and win nada...

Anotherwords I wouldn't spend my own $$$ on that pricey a ticket.... When you lose .... You feel like a loser ..... And then you do the math and figure out how many pbs or mms tickets you could have purchased instead.

Not necessarily. It depends on the odds of winning the prize. Having very good odds (relatively speaking) of a $50 ticket winning a $4 million prize can be a very good lottery buy.

Massachusetts: $50 ticket has a $25 million top prize, odds of 1 in 10,080,000 Connecticut: $50 ticket has a $4 million top prize, odds of 1 in 1,333,333

Now, you tell me which one is the better buy. There is no right answer, but I'm interested in hearing reasoned opinions.

$50 for a $4 mil is a complete joke. Next door Massachusetts has $50 for a $20 mil winner and quite a few of $4mil winners for $10. Not to mention second prize winners are even worse. Connecticut is a joke and I hope it fails. People should just head over to Massachusetts for one of the best odds and prize structures in the country.
