I have seen customers buy the cash word ticket and scratch off the bar code before the clerk has rung up the sale on the register. The whole purpose of the cash word game is to take it home and play it there slowly to enjoy it more. You play it during commercials and you never complete it in time so you put it down and wait for the next commercial to finish it. It is fun and enjoyable to do it that way.

Ahh, thanks! I never thought about it that way. The one reason I don't like crosswords is because they do take a while. I could just scratch the bar code and scan it but that takes all of the fun out of it.

In my experience with scratch offs, the more chances to win on a ticket, I don't win anything.

The game is popular enough so they can short change with the prize structure. People like it because if you play it right (slow scratch) it can take a few minutes and has some suspense to it.

I wonder why Cash Words have smaller jackpot prizes. Most of our $5 tickets top prize is $500,000

Actually, I have considered switching to scratch tix. A couple things that keep me from changing are I think Texas scratch tix are rather weak considering the top prizes for the odds and cost of the games compared to other states like Florida. Also, Texas is a BIG state. If a particular game only has say 4 top prizes, there's a lot of territory those 4 top prizes can be hiding. Even a game with 10 top prizes (which is unusual) has a lot of places to hide.

Banks cannot discriminate based on age for a mortgage. When a family member bought their first home, I went along for moral support. I was chatting with their realtor who told me that she had a 85 year old woman just buy her first home. It is never too late.

Michigan is coming out with a $30 Fast Cash which is Jackpot plus $1 Million for 500,000 to 1 odds so now Michigan Players have something else to consider.

I'm down to a couple-few games right now myself as I have pretty much stopped playing games I have never come close to winning in the last 5 decades I have been playing.

Most of the Instants will seem silly once the new Fast Cash comes online.

I only play draw games so maybe I'll switch. Then again walking into the right store at the right time no less and picking out a scratch game out of the 70 choices is too imposing a challenge to me. I will continue to fill out cards and go to any store at any time to play them. Instant gratification is a sign of weakness.

Congratulations to him. IDK his circumstances, but an 80 y/o with a mortgage...but we're not him so who knows why.

Am curious have other LP members considered going to scratch tickets only? Reason for asking was thinking of the same thing yesterday.
