i can give you my experiences as a person who sells scratchoffs 5 days aweek, all clerks mgrs etc do have an advantage at knowing if there was a hit or not in a certain book, but that is only if there is a player that scratches their tickets in the store.most people that i sell to take their tickets home and do them and i never know if they had won anything or not,its all about info clerks usually do know what has hit and what hasnt, but only on their shifts.i recently sold 8 5.00 tickets in a row... [ More ]

couldnt it be done like this...if you are a manager and you know which scratch tickets are high sellers ,you scan some of the tickets to activate it then do a check scan it to see if its a winner if not just leave it and sell it still to unsuspecting customers ....sometimes i see stacks of tickets behind the counter that they pick off of to sell to people instead of it being on the roll

I agree with many of the above comments. I was only saying that if someone suspects fraud at a store and has some evidence, I see no harm in reporting it to the Lottery Commission. Like tntea I might want to take a chance and buy from a roll that hasn't hit if I worked behind a counter and if I played scratch tickets. One time I was at Publix and they had a great sale on their fudge, creamcheese brownies. When the cashier scanned my purchase she asked if there were many left. I said I only saw... [ More ]

I totally agree. Take them somewhere ELSE and scratch them off ! I find it personally VERY annoying to have someone hanging a round a store scratching off massive numbers of tickets (he said he spent $170 on these tickets) when it is a place of business, and people are there to buy OTHER things besides lottery scratch offs.

It's no different than a slot machine. You play and get nothing, you leave, the next person is entitled to get whatever comes out. I don't care if the guy wants to buy... [ More ]

I am a store manager and personally i don't play scratch tickets but i do tell customers which ones have not hit on my shift. As far as playing them nobody knows where the winners are so i guess the managers odds would be just good as anyone elses, but i don't think she should play them while on duty!!!

when i purchase my daily 3 tickets i always buy them from the other person on duty!!

also i would not cut into someone else playing the scratch tickets if i did play

while winning scratch tickets can be found anywhere in a book or roll of tickets. most store owners know that the majority of the winning tickets are either in the front, middle, or end of the book/roll. it doesn't take rocket science for them to keep an eye on who's buying tickets and from which part of the packs have been sold or claimed. Also if the odds say one in three is a winner doesn't mean if you buy six tickets that you'll get 2 winners out of six tickets. this information is misleadin... [ More ]

I do agree! I use to go to three different stores and then I found out that the owners wife was looking in the trash behind the counter and looking at the ticket logs so she knew the winners and the ones that have not won. I use to ask him if anyone had won latley and he use to tell me yeah my wife won right after you left like 50,100,75, man that would really make me mad. I stopped going to that store just because of that reason. I dont belive that they can tell the winners from the ones that d... [ More ]

Report her for what? Buying lottery tickets? If you don't buy them they're still for sale. If you think letting them know whether or not you had any winners is helpful and you don't want to give them that help, take your tickets somewhere else to scratch them.

Yes, I guess they do have an advantage. They can see a streak of losing tickets and then dive in and buy their tickets. I guess in casinos you could keep an eye on machine which hasn't hit in a while and go for the kill. Myself, I thought it was against the law for empoyees to buy tickets where they work.Yea, I don't think thats fair. People who walk in from the street don't have that advantage, so I guess I would say its unfair. Sorry, I said many words, which don't say much.

It is probably not against lottery rules about retailers or employees playing scratchers.

It is obvious that it is to their advantage when they know if there has been a payout or not.

Unethical or not is how you you look at it.

I would be If I was scratchin and someone got a winner before I made another purchase on that scratcher.

Just like steppin away from a slot machine and the player next to you was watchin your machine also and then jumped on your machine and hit somethin.

So many people have claimed that a store knows which scratch-off tickets are winners and which are not, but the clerks I ask say that's not true. I have absolutely no idea. However, if you believe this woman is committing an act of fraud or theft, then by all means report her. You can probably do this anonymously, although you will need some kind of proof, which is important any time you file an accusation. If you feel strongly that she is cheating, there might be an investigation into the matte... [ More ]
