I knew it, right there in Chicago, illegal goose liver cloning. Here in MD. we have Canadian Geese, I believe they like turf for breakfast, lunch and dinner, because they live here all year round, it seems because of the all the water, turf, and plain ol' good living, MD is a second home for Canada Geese. Some golf courses around here are real attractions to the geese, the golfers contend with divets and goose pellets, needless to say, they'd be better off playing golf and vacationing in Chicag... Please lets not single out one or the other of these parties again. This is making my eyes bleed. The mere fact that the statements use the word power , scares me. The founding fathers were not into power and that is why most of them worked for a dollar a year. Imagine any politician today working for a dollar a year. Even at that rate some of them would not be a bargain.

Really? I had no idea. Hooray!! Geese already have livers. What's cruel is how people force feed these birds until their livers are swollen and they suffer horrible lives and deaths because a few gourmets desire to stuff their faces with foie gras. Let's see, the elimination of Habeus Corpus, conenting adults being jailed for making porn, people being jailed for simple wagering on the supposedly wrong thing, chefs in Chicago can lose their restaurant permit for making goose liver, the drinking age is still oppressively high. And through all of this, they've been trying to make it harder to leave the country (come 2008 you'll need a passport just to get into Canada, expect a visa requirement before too long).

It is called the RICO act and has been around for twenty years. Florida highway patrol has been confiscating vacationers money for years. Don't travel the Florida Turnpike with a lot of money. You are half right.

Bush signed things into law he KNEW would get over-ridden, so he made sure to sign things when Congress was not in session.

But you know what ?

It's not just him, it's EVERYONE in politics. I'm trying to figure out how folks can spend multi-millions on campaigns when the job they are running for pay $100,000 - $150,000, and I can only think of one reason - money under the table for favors.

Me thinks some of the folks on this thread are protesting too much.

Its like the old saying goes, if you really want to know what is going on follow the money.

These people were conducting an illegal betting opperation in the country where they live vs people whose business is perfectly legal and government supervised where they live and happens to be available to people who live in countries where betting is illegal when not state approved. BobP

I just don't understand simple minded people! Heck, I think it's as plain as the nose on your face! If someone has illegal gains/money from an illegal operation (of any kind), of course all money, property and other assets will be seized. The government has no way to distinguish what had been acquired legally or illegally, that burden falls on the accused! Note the seizure of all property before any trial. Seizure of money so the accused can't mount a defence and seizure of all computers without a trial that are used for just about everything these days.

And the crime of promoting gambling ?
