I honored the boycott. I would have had to get gas on May 15th but what I did is got it the night before, this way I wouldn't need any on the 15th. I'm watching the prices now eagerly anticipating a sudden drop as Big Oil realizes that they can't get away with gouging us any longer!

You got it littleoldlady. My V4 is an old car, and still gets me 28MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the highway. That is the way to go for now until alternatives can be viable. Nobody really needs a V8 or even a V6 ; they just want them. That's part of the problem...all those SUVs guzzle gas like crazy. Now its coming home to roost. well i will not have to buy gas today because the little gas light in my instrument cluster was blinking to beat the band yesterday. So i had no choise but to buy fuel or run out of gas park the van and walk or catch a cab the twenty or so miles home with the family.

Drain the tanks in the ground dry.

I can't eat corn because it reminds me of when I dated someone who served in the military. He was a Colonel. I tried to butter him up, but he still left me and it was very hard to digest. For months I stalked him, but sooned learned to say Aw shucks. He's no longer in the military. I heard he moved onto a different field. Think he might be a musician since he always had a good ear. And of course the price of corn went up because of people trying to turn it into fuel. So most of the drinks and other food products also go up because of uses made with corn syrup.

I personally try to avoid those foods which have corn syrup. I'm trying to go on a low calorie diet....

It's getting tough eating salads with grilled chicken...LOL Gets old real fast.

It's the same with paper products and recycling. Businesses and industrial plants create most of the waste. Anyone who has worked in an office knows that many wastebaskets are emptied every day. I only empty my trash once a week and hardly fill up a small can.

As a person who beleives in viewing the entire situation from a rational stand point lets break this scenario down.

Thank God Embarq came to the rescue. I don't use CON Cast for DSL any longer. Unfortunately, I have to use them for cable TV.

I went online to see if Dish TV had any specials. But it was still regular prices. The funny thing is that about a week after I partially registered online with Dish TV, and left the site in disgust, I received a letter from them which had specials if I chose to hook up with them. Funny what desperation does to people...LOL They changed their tune real quick

Let's say they lowered it by 20 cents a gallon or even gave a free gallon of gasoline to everyone who filled up that day. the oil company's don't care if you buy gas today tonight or tomorrow. they know when you run out of gas in your vehicle you are going to have to put fuel in you vehicle or park it.

If you don't buy fuel then there is more fuel to go around to the others that need it.

I saw a show on Hydrogen energy. Not the kind you see out there running on hydrogen.

This sucker splits the Hydrogen atom, just like how the sun is powered. This show was very interesting. The combustion chamber was the size of a million dollar house. Before the explosion, all workers had to hide before a special shield as to not expose them to some kind of damaging force.

I do remember the oil crisis of the 60's though where gas was rationed and your day to fill up was determined by the last digit of your license plate. Americans need to wise up and really start putting the muscle and energy into finding alternative fuels. Also, instead of buying bigger cars, Many should try smaller v-6s, v-4's and any v that is less that that of an 8. I have always driven a 6 cylinder but this time I got a 4. Right on RD99 I'm with you. I got this message about 2 weeks ago and I didn't know if I could post this type of information but, I am so glad you did and thanks. Maybe it won't make a difference and maybe it will....all I know is this is a sure way for our voices to be heard. We as the so called American People has to do something because, things are getting out of control and fast.

It's true, Pac. All the way back to the days of Henry Ford, they knew fuel could be made with corn and other products besides oil.

Regarding pills, about 90% of every person who talks to a psychiatrist is prescribed some kind of anti-depressant. I went to one and told him I sometimes feel as if I'm a er spaniel. But I think I was barking up the wrong tree. However, when I asked to use the bathroom, he put his newspaper on the floor and said good girl.

Talk to any gas station owner and they will tell you that they barely make any profit percentage-wise off the gas they buy and resell to the consumer. Boycotting gas stations only hurts the individual gas station owner. The Oil companies won't drop the prices to the station owners because of one day or even a week of boycotts, because they know eventually you have to get gas, and such a short time period just means you'll be buying more gas the day after.

That fella with the station wagon and carburator was run out of buisness for what the carburator could do. The carburator had an efficent misting sytem for the gas. Most of the gas that goes in the combustion chamber is not misted properly for fuel efficency.

I had met the man that invented that carburator.

I could go on and on, but you get the drift.

I agree with you on all counts. The oil companies are literally the biggest, richest companies in the world. Think of the power they wield. They can do anything they want, because they have the resources to do it.

I absolutely believe they have purposely held back on technologies that would provide cheap energy. Not just cars -- homes and businesses too.

I think they're stumped on how to make a lot of money off of renewable energy sources.

Who here is old enough to remember that story in the mid 70's about a guy who invented a carburetor and installed it in a station wagon, which got about 80 miles to the gallon?

The guy disappeared, and so did the wagon. Either he was bought off by the oil companies, or enjoyed the view at the bottom of some ocean.

How about this, lets have a national symposium on alternative fuels. Better yet, lets have a contest where there is a cash prize offered to the person(s) that come up with the next viable energy source to fuel cars. Make one of the main rules that Oil industry workers and lobbyists are banned from adding ANY contact with contestants or adding input in general.

I personaly think it is a good I deal we not only need not buy on the 15th but also the 16th this will tear a whole in a rip off business lets all stick together these foreginer and there markets already got it good in the US the US give them money to start there own business. what we have to do is cut out some of this gas and make a surplus and we will see the price drop our people we have elected in office don't worry about gas because we pay for the gas and there cars which they use on there... If we just stop by from the major gas supplier it will drop....Mobil/Exxon....

Once they find they are not making as much money they will lower the price and everyone will follow....this one day thing won't effect them as much as you think...we need more long term stuff....Like just stop by your gas at Mobil...

The only people that will get affected is the owners of the franchises. I just recently heard that some owners barely break even as it is.

Secondly, just like justxploring said before, people will have to gas up either one day before or one day after. All that surplus of gas not used on the 15th will eventually be used on one of those two days, the one before on the 14th or after on the 16th.

Please explain how that idea I just presented is flawed in any way you can think of.

i have sent it out to over 30 people.if the gas stations wasnt over charging us then

the oil companys would not have record setting profits every quarter.i am willing to

try almost anything to get the gas prices down.
