What happened when you contacted the lottery about them not paying? I sent a email to the Ky Lottery about stores selling tickets and won't cash them in. The store would send you to another business to cash them. They couldn't cash in a $50. ticket. I started going to that other store to play my numbers now. Oh, and Ky Lottery never replied to my email.

I appreciate the effort and time some of you took to *read* only part of my post WITHOUT reading the entire comments or even comprehending the FULL Post.

1: Its CLEARLY stated that yes tickets can be cashed (via money order/check or cash) and yes you can call the hotline for assistance if you are having a problem cashing tickets.

2: YES Lottery funds ARE separate from overall store revenue! Learn to investigate before making assumptions.

Most grocery stores and supermarkets cash paychecks under $600 and I've never read or heard of any them getting robbed continually. Their cash flow is continuous because people use the money from their paychecks to buy groceries so that seems to be a more likely target then a lottery payment store that would be paying out most of the money they started the day with.

hi blackie, dang you should live in michigan party stores just love to cash in those tickets,.. its 2 or 3 percent for them.. i have had no problem cash tickets .. just having a winning ticket is my problem.. just find you a store that likes cash in winning tickets and play you numbers there alot.. good luck

Sorry Gamegrl. I think one should be able to cash a ticket up to $600 dollars in any place that sells me a ticket. I shouldn't have to drive 20 miles or 60 miles away to cash a winning ticket. Especially with the price of gas these days. They advertise that you can cash a ticket up to 600 and anything over , you have to go to the lottery commission. Thanks for your input and all others that have given their thoughts on this. I hope it doesnt happen to any of you as it is a real pain.

Blah Blah Blah...they're supoose to cash the ticket up to $600 no matter what.

What makes you think that they're being watched if I was a crook which I'm not, I could tell they sell alot of tickets and it won't matter if they get jacked for it cause it is insured by the state they are not responsible for stolen goods no matter what the cost we all know this.

Off Topic- No business wants or needs the attraction of We carry cash for all lottery winnings under 600$ . theyd be robbed or targeted, depending on the hour of day. Lets face it soem folks *assume* that lottery money is Part of the stores over all funds. ITS not. They have to keep all lottery funds separate from any other transaction going on at that store. Its in the retailer guidelines.

Most tickets I seen says that they can be cashed upto a certain amount at any lottery agent.

These clowns should have cash available to cash tickets.

This we only have so much in a register is bull. They can get shot for 5.00 or 5,000 does not make a difference.

Thanks for your input everyone. Alot of good advice there! I finally got it cashed this afternoon at the Same Farmfresh store I go to about every night. I did get the cash but with a you just cleaned out my whole drawer . I guess I should be glad she let me clean out the whole drawer . Thanks again for your input and advice! Good Luck

I remember one time I tried to cash in a winning ticket. The storekeeper said we don't sell that ticket so try another store. I was like oh my. I guess he was busy? Maybe a tough day? So went to another store and cashed it there.

I would totally go to a liquor store, that would be my first choice. Never had any problem there but try in the afternoon's.

That's crazy that you had to go to more then one place to cash a ticket. Pathetic! I would complain to your lottery office and report the places that wouldn't give it to you. They should be concerned because they want to keep you playing, don't they?? And who's going to play if you can't collect your winnings?

That's smart business!

Every town that has multiple lottery terminals should have one store designated as a cashing agent so winners can get paid without being hassled by clerks that believe it's their money. That would help to eliminate clerks trying to short change winners or their store too.

A similar thing happened to me at the store where I regularly buy my tickets in the evening when I tried to cash them the next morning. A clerk I've never seen before said she couldn't cash it so I asked her to call the manager and the manager told her to pay me.

In most supermarkets if they don't have enough money in the drawer, they get it out of the safe so this clerk probably decided instead of having to go to the safe after paying me to just say she didn't have the money. If it was a sto... [ More ]

I had the same problem with a ticket worth $290 here in IL. I had to go to 5 places before I finally got it cashed and guess where?... a liquor store. It is my understanding with the gas stations is that lottery money is separate from gas money and they can't pay you from the gas money. One gas station (BP) told me they could only cash up to $50, period. I wrote the lottery people about that one. You might try asking them when would be the best time to cash a ticket of that amou... In KY all places that sell lottery tickets are supposed to cash up to $600. and there are certain stores that are cashing agents. They can cash up to $5,000. I usually go to them because they always have the cash except for if a trip or quad falls. When that happens they usually will tell me a time to come back because by then they would have collected enough money to pay out.

find a small owner operator convience store...they will be happy to cash it...the store gets

3 percent commission from the state lottery board for all payouts...

Try checkcash place that sells lotto tickets. They always have cash. I had the same problems. Waiting and waiting. They say come back at night, then sorry comeback in the morning. Not many stores have that much cash.

You know kroger has the cash, they just don't want to deal with it.

I had a situation where the clerk at a circle k went ahead and processed the ticket, then told me he didn't have the cash to pay it and would have to give me a money order. I didn't want a money order, i wanted cash as promised by the lottery. I yelled enough to where the manager on that shift made me wait around until they collected enough to pay me.

That's ridiculous ! I've never had a problem at the supermarkets up here cashing that amount. The clerks you're talking to are lazy. All they have to do is go to the store office, and have the manager take that amount of cash out of the safe ! Any supermarket that doesn't have $500 of cash in their safe doesn't know what they're doing

Not sure how things work in VA but I would keep trying. I try to never cash my winnings with the GA Lottery offices unless I absolutely have to. I've noticed that you have better success cashing the tickets in at a small no-name store. If they're in the right location, the prime times to cash in are just after the lunch hours (about 1 or 2 pm) and in the evening about 6pm or 7pm. The bigger stores are constantly counting down their money and getting it ready for the vault or the armored car... [ More ]

Anyone run into this?

Been trying to cash in a pick 3 ticket for 2 days now. It is a str ticket worth $500. Been to a Super K Mart on Military Highway , A Farm Fresh on Little Creek Rd. , A Kroger supermarket on Little Creek Rd., all of which are big stores.All here in Norfolk Va. I have also tried at a few smaller stores such as convienence stores and gas stations that sell tickets. I have tried at 8 pm and 8 am this morning. Seems none of them have this kind of cash.
