Lilly, to give a serious answer, I would probably speak to my bank manager to talk about different ways of depositing the money, depending on the size of the jackpot. People often think that $100,000 is the maximum people put in any one bank, but that's not true. You can always sit down with a financial planner after the excitement wears off and you have time to research his suggestions, unless you have complete faith in him. Well, I kinda doubt that story. After he claimed the prize, he ducked local reporters. Not only did he refuse a press conference, but he had some people out front of the lottery office to distract reporters while he left in a car waiting out the back door so they couldn't even get photographs of him. So instead, the media got ahold of the security tape of when he got the ticket checked, and I don't remember see any girl whirling around with the ticket.

Except honesty isn't the only important quality to look for when investing your money. Nobody has a crystal ball. I doubt if every financial planner who suggested a client invest in Enron or Worldcom was a crook.

My first choice would be Massage Therapist. Just stay away from anyone who practices hypnotism.

Good/funny story. Thanks for posting that link. I can't believe he would have brought the winning ticket to a gas station to verify it and then the woman almost forgot to give it back to him. I mean seriously if I had any inkling that I might have a 200+ million dollar winning ticket in my possesion...no one and I mean no one would touch that except for the lottery officials at the headquarters.

there are people and thousands of them that do nothing in life but locate lottery winners trying to get money.

What make you think a lottery winner has to start filtering his mail differently than before he won a lottery. If they're just requests for money, do what you've always done and throw them into the trash.

attorny, tax advisor first off whilst claiming the prize. then a financial planner and accoutant, all of whom need to be checked for their rep and past.

Depending on the size of the win for a time you will need a good security company...

Nope, not required in this state. It doesn't say that on the back of tickets, plus Brad Duke didn't do one. He ducked the local press when he claimed his prize, and did all his press on national shows without the Idaho Lottery involved.

I'm not sure if it says the same on your state's tickets, but on the back of Hoosier Lottery tickets it states:

The holder of this ticket agrees to participate in interviews with Hoosier Lottery public relations personnel And the media and grants permission to use his/her name, photograph, comments and image in Lottery sponsored advertising and promotions .

he would be so happy you knew who he was he might answer any questions you have. he wants to be a billionaire so if he can also help you with advice or if he can get you to invest your money with his then he will have something else to brag about and call the papers for another interview. some people said they would email oprah for advice but im sure she gets questions about investments everyday.

When hiring a financial advisor and investor for your funds I would do a thorough background check and his investment track record before I hired them.

We just had an investor of other peoples funds in our area brought up on charges recently.

One investor is out multi millions on the investor.

One bad apple in the spotlight makes you cautious of them all.
