I've read the post and the responses, but the only part I don't get is the morality kick reference. Where is this taking place? I've heard the talking heads (no; not the band) and politicians making noise in recent weeks about American morals, but that's all it amounts to - making noise; very few people today actually practice their moral beliefs, and even fewer will admit to it.

The only moral dilemma here is whether or not to obey an unjust law, or one applied unjustly.

When the ovens were being fired up at Auschwitz, all the necessary laws had been put in place making everything legal . Hiding Jews was illegal.

When Stalin was starving the Ukraine into submission, it was legal . Bringing food into the region was illegal.

Critical thinking is no longer taught. The sheeple just bleat mindlessly about whether something is ill-eagle or not.

Nice to hear Sir Metro's point of view. I used to travel a lot and no matter how beautiful the weather was on the island or how friendly the people were in the country, I always felt something I can't describe when the plane landed at Logan Airport.

You are taking away real life scenarios that would actually be possibilities, and you seem to be angered that some people are able to actually find loopholes in your game. I would take the 7 million and hire a good lawyer and sue the estate of the idiot that stole my car, crashed it into my pool and drowned. I'd also go after the estate of his/her accomplice which my pit bull ran down and killed.

I think I would come out ahead of the game and I get to stay here.

First, I'm not so sure the courts would blame me for the drowning. It depends what the circumstances were. If I was that wreckless to begin with, and allowed a situation for the drowning to have happened, then I'm just a total idiot, and deserve it. But if all the safety precautions were there and the person drowned because they couldn't swim, well that's not my fault.

Second, depending on what state I lived in at the time, I might be able to dodge the system as far as the pitbull case.... [ More ]

The odds of this situation happening as you describe it is even less likely than hitting the powerball. Selecting an annuity would be the only logical answer. Actually I would take the annuity, as you would only lose half the money as opposed to all. Not to mention that you will not be getting $7 million after taxes. You would still be very rich, and very free. Something you will not be if you flee and one day get captured by bounty hunters.

The Court levied a 7 million dollar judgement against you (forget the Insurance argument - you had none).
