You just keep playing because, like I told my husband I am no different than all the other people that hit jackpots. I think all you got to do is believe....I believe so strongly that I'm going to hit that I even got my lottery story all planed out. At my age all I got is a hope and a dream and I can't dream if I don't play. It's very true that if you don't play, you can't win, but for me the odds are just too rediculous to take it seriously. Occasionally I'll play a couple of bucks, but I'm not sitting around basing my life around some extreme and remote possibility of breaking such enormous odds. The odds are the reality...period. What to you say to them people who say youre Nuts and dreaming when you play the lottery?

I've never had anyone tell me I was nuts for playing the lottery. I suppose if they did, I would tell them where to go. However, I have had people say they can't wait for me to share when I win. It tends to be people who barely know me.

I say the same thing, you must play to win! However, since purchasing a lotto software I went from playing roughly $5.00 twice a week; with more $$$ when the JP was huge, to averaging far more with the software generated wheels. So I can see where people will get the impression you are spending to much money. I have very little debt, my children are well cared for, and I have a nice career. I don't deal with it. No one but my wife knows I am playing the lottery. The store clerks won't even remember me, I used to buy my ticket once a month, now I buy 20 draws in advance. My $20 bucks will be good for more than 2 months (yeah I am not an asset to the lottery). I buy from different outlets (nothing superstitious- I buy wherever convenient), usually at gas stations.

I rarely discuss my lottery purchases with other people. I used to, but I realized it serves no purpose. Anyway, if I finally do win a big jackpot, there won't be as many people calling me up and asking was it you?

Interesting - when I saw the subject of this thread NON BELIEVERS I thought it was about God and religion. So that makes me wonder if winning the lottery has become more important to a lot of people.

I think everyone that buys a ticket hopes to hit the Jackpot .................and I know that people go through stages...........they may hae tried the Lottery and found it boring, or they may not have tired it yet........

I never really believed that normal people win until my oldest Son bought 1 easy pick for the Mega Millions and won $5,000, and a few weeks later a co-worker scratched his way to $250,00 with an instant ticket ...........

that caught my attention...but I never talk

For the most part I simply don't discuss the lottery with my friends and relatives, since I know most don't play and most consider it a waste of money. But what would I say if challenged?

I don't play golf. I don't go bowling. I don't have country club fees. I don't go to casinos. I don't spend money on DVDs or movies and no longer spend it on season tickets to the opera. this site has had a few topics where we discussed people who tell lottery players they are wasting money but those same people will spend money on tobacco products,candy or junk food. its america so we can all spend our money the way we want but id rather take a shot at millions buying a lottery ticket instead of putting something into my body to hurt my health.

I hear people saying you'll never hit that jackpot and become a millionaire, and i say i got as good of a chance as any other player . I figure if i miss the jackpot at least i tried. Its better than a defeatist attitude of ill never win . I like what the New York state lottery pitch use to say all you need is a dollar and a dream . when i read some of the winners stories the same family and friends who told them they would never win and they were wasting their money are the same people who asked the lottery winner for some of the winnings or complained that the lottery winner was greedy and should give them more of the winnings. i have only been old enough to play for 11 years so thats how long i have been playing and i believe i will win big one day and i hear negative comments just like you hear so hang in there and you

I'm with you. I have been playing since 1993 and have yet to have a big hit but I just believe I am going to win BIG one day. I know I don't have a chance if I don't try. WE are going to HIT it ONE DAY.

Ive been playing the lottery system for well over 10 years now and im sure ive spent plenty of money trying to hit the JACKPOT. I have had soo many people tell me youre wasting your money and thats fine, they are allowed their opinions.
