I agree with this statement, a friend of mine won the Texas Lotto back in 1996. Neither her or her husband changed. We still go for our monthly lunches and take turns buying. We are real friends who enjoy each others company;but, not those who expect a free ride just because one of us can afford to pay all the time. I mean lets look at it a little closer, we all have friends. Some make more than us and others don't; therefore, we don't expect the ones who make more to always pay for lunch or din... [ More ]

But how many people are there with $30M or more? And, as the number climbs higher, the air gets much more rarified.

Kidnapping is a reality. The Mexican mafia is, right now, coming across the border and kidnapping members of rich American families from shopping malls, taking them back to Mexico, torturing them and holding them for ransom.

That is because the lottery doe snot want to get hounded by people question the integrity of the game by now listing winners. No one really cares about anonymity until it is them who wins. Funny thing about clerks as I said in the past, they never seem to want to offer any money back to me for all my losses. So why should they get any winnings? They shouldn't, plain and simple. Never had any ask though, they know better.

Just so I am not taken wrong. I have ten close friends that, given a huge enough lottery deposit, I would turn into multi-millionaires. Most buy employing them at a high salary and giving them job descriptions that enables us to all to be together. Each not feeling inadequate or depressed because they can't pull their weight. The pulled their weight when I needed them, and now I would have a chance to support them. Which is part of the reason I do not want to settle for a small jackpot, but want... [ More ]

Hey MFYL

I think its the people around you who change first. They expect you to fund their way through life and yes, I think people who receive lucky financial windfalls are then forced to change and/or become a recluse just so they can have the peace that they lived prior the their luck changing. Now I don't mean the purchasing of things thats not a life change its something you do.

There is absolutely no reason to become a recluse. They have been making millionaires all around the world every day. Thank you world wide lottery! How many can you name off the top of your head? How many can you find in an hour? There are cities jam packed with millionaires. Some places, you cannot even buy property because of the number of rich people.

True, but I think it must be worse for a lottery winner because people perceive that the winner's money was free therefore they should be willing to share it. I've had a clerk expect me to share a lousy $100 win with her. I've never seen a clerk ask for a share of a $1000 paycheck as they cashed it. I assume because paychecks are considered earned deserved whereas wins are not.

Anyone who reaches for a certain status in life and makes the grade can expect to be troubled by the less fortunate. This includes the boss or owners of a company while maybe not a millionaire or billionaire because he or she has reached a certain platform people tend to think they might be a soft touch or wiser wealthier than the rest of the community.

There are few ways a person with millions or billions can hide. Then the millionaires in the nine figures, never heard of them being harassed either. If I ever won, maybe I would say, I will match what (whatever millionaire or billionaire I chose) gives you.
