also when i hit powerball if i do, i am going to get me a system to keep the lights on at night ALL NIGHT, because i don't like been in a house and the house been dark, even if is at 4am in the morning...During the day i will not need to turn the lights on well maybe 1 or 2....If this mean getting me a couple of special lamps or bulbs that save energy then i willl...The light in my room i will turn them off but the light of the inside house will remain on even if is 4am in the morning...

I'd go green too if only it didn't take 10-20 years to recover the cost of doing so, if you ever do. I'd love to buy a Tesla Roadster but even if I was able to afford one I'd still be looking at the cost of it verses whether or not I'd save anything (money wise) by doing so. But at $100,000+ it'd be more of a purchase of because I think it's nice to look at and fun to drive and not to save money or the environment. Why wait until you win a jackpot to go green? Do it now, save money, and have more to spend on lottery tickets! I bought a Prius 2 years ago ... I have filled the tank on that car 26 times since I bought it (yes I drive it all over the place!). With my old car it would have been at least 3x times that number of fill ups. Just the savings on gas alone makes it possible for me to buy $40-60 more in lottery tickets each month .... so more chances to win!

My applaud to the poster who is making this decision. Its been a goal of mine prior to the *IN TO BE GREEN THINKING*.

Perhaps its from not liking the waste that is so prevelent in this country yet so thwarted in countries that have learned to conserve under the means of there government. One can survive and live a decent life without all the waste that does pollute the environment.

Yes a person can survive without electricity and can survive without oil. Many nations have proven this.

The worst threat ever to the United states i feel (actually i don't feel because i know i am right), the worst threat to the United States is not Terrorism or Global Warming....The Worse threat to the United States is: OIL/PETROLEUM..And the Spread of Nuclear weapons and of course World WAr 3...I don't think i am correct, i know i am correct...Terrorism is the worse threat to the WORLD but not to the U.S....

I was just in Portland (Oregon) last week, and that city is very much like what you're talking about. Lots and lots of bike riders. In fact, they even have bike riding lanes painted on the roads. It actually felt a little dangerous, because you constantly have to look for both cars and bikes when you make a turn.

I stay home more when gasoline price hits above $4.00. Even Cinco De Mayo rides in my town decrease tremendously.

I wish cities in the United States could be more like Ansterdam, where people are using public transportation and biking a lot. This life style improves human being health while it also reduces pollution and co2 emission.

I'll bet a buck that most of the tree huggers aren't hurting enough to let us build more refineries. I can't say for sure but the artsy fartsy ilk of the tree huggin kind tells me they're relatively well off, and a buck increase in a gallon of gas won't hurt them one bit. I could be wrong, but I have a good feeling about that one.

It's not the lack of oil, but the means to refine enough for the demand. I can't believe that with so much unused space in America, endless wastelands where no one... [ More ]

So do i but on my car...I am going green on my car, the only problem is that they are not many gas stations where you can fill up for a green car or you can charge up your green car...

They don't even have mechanics where you can take your green car and get it fix...And if they do is only one of them and you have to worry that he don't go broke...What a big disadvantage...

We all are tired of rising fuel costs, but I would think a Powerball jackpot would make them seem not so intense , let's say.

Regarding cars, EMT'shave reported getting shocked pulling people out of hybrids, and not being able to getthem put right away because the car is still charged .

Back in the 1970's, someone had the idea of building office buildings with one lightswitch per floor- and then had to hire people to screwlight bulbs in and out, one by one, as they were needed... [ More ]

Everyone always thinks of oil as just the thing that goes in the gas tank and in their car's engine.

The thing that most people don't realize is that oil is an essential ingredient in almost everything they own, from their clothing to every piece of plastic to .... well, everything. If you took oil out of the equation, you would have almost nothing.

Your hate for big oil and energy companies must be really strong to want to spend that much money. You won't break even with for many years even with rising energy cost and will still need to rely on the power company when the sun isn't shining and/or the wind isn't blowing, even if you have back up batteries to store power or sell it back to the power company..
