39c5 = 575,757. Taking your 18 perimeter numbers an setting them aside, you're left with 21 internal numbers. Asking the question How many combos are there with *only* internal numbers? gives 21c5 = 20,349 out of 575,757 or ~3.5%, meaning a combo containing at least one perimeter number should show up about 96.5% of the time.

peri 18

int 21

combos

5 8,568 X 0 1 8,568

4 3,060 X 1 21 64,260

3 816 X 2 210 171,360

2 153 X 3 1,330 203,490

1 18 X 4 5,985 107,... [ More ]

(I'm making an assumption here that all 5/39 play slips have the same payout, this is based on Illinois').

In the Illinois Lillte Lotto game 95 /39), the playslip is in rows of seven, 1-7, 8-14, 15-21, 22-28, 29-35, and the last is 36 -39.

So vertically the perimeter numbers are 1, 15, 22, 29, and 36 on the left, and 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35 on the right.

If we also count the top and bottom row, along with the numbers already mentioned, that would include 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 and 37, 38, and... [ More ]
