In the movie Casino there's a scene where a couple of men are cheating the house playing BlackJack. Robert De Niro is narrating and remarks that these 2 guys had a pretty good thing going and would have probably gotten away with it had they not been so greedy.

Let's put the example of Georgia...Georgia revenue from lottery is like 1.5 billion for the year...And remember that 1.5 billion is only 50% of the money of players...

Well if they save what they make in 2 years, place that money in the bank, and the interest at 5% can generate/power a free Pick3, a free Pick4, a free lotto, and a free Powerball...And it will have the same amount of winners as the actual charging lottery...Is the state going to lose that 3 billion? After being a member of LP for almost 3 years you should have a better understanding of the function of state run lotteries. They offer games of chance with the percentages in their favor and use the profits to benefit the state. In the fiscal year 2007, the Ohio Lottery had sales of $2.26 billion and paid out $1.35 billion in prizes. My exact thought...I'm still trying to figure out a way to feel good enough about a number to dump 4 or 5 bucks straight on it.I don't know about the rest of ya,1500 to 2500 extra once a month every month would be perfect for me.Only one who'd notice something like that would be the covience store thats always paying you out but even then 1 power hit a month could get by as lucky

Pumpi, governments don't conduct lotteries to be free lotteries.

Capitalist societies don't conduct free lotteries.

They are in the business of running lotteries to make money, not to just give it away.

The money that is paid out comes from the losers, but not all the money the losers have lost- the house doles out a small portion to the winners and keeps the rest for itself.

If the lottery gets shut down, it can be replaced for a better, easier and free lottery...

All it needed to replace the 1 state lottery is 3 billion dollars...To replace all the lotteries of the United States it will take 120 billion dollars...

I don't know about that..everyone won't play your numbers because they figure..well they hit yesterday so today they won't. I think the ones who actually play and win a lot are regulars who play a certain set of numbers that they wait for. They figure out the hot numbers and just wait on them. They play every draw but when they hit..mostly it is double digits say 10,000 and up. I know one guy who plays the P4 and everyday he spends about 10.00 per draw on his 1 number. Keeping a low profile and not geting too greedy is the best way to go.

Yes that would be the way to do it. If you have the winning number all the time the lottery will be there when needed for more funds.

With that thought if you like to travel there are something like over 30 states with pick 3.

Ride the wave 'til it ends. What is most likely to happen is that the state would shut you down.

If you hit every time you play, even if you play at a different place every day, it will be eventually known among clerks that guy who drives the red pickup wins everytime he plays . Maybe some of you have seen that genie in a bottle story e-mail that gets forwarded often- the one where the genie offered someone three wishes, and when it came to oney the genie warned them that most people who wish for a million dollars or more wind up blowing it all.

If the payout limit was reached every draw they would shut the game down. Money wagered generally does not cover the limit.

When trips hit in S.C. recently they had a news article where the lottery got clobbered. They took in something like 150 thou and paid out over 500 thou.

If I were able to pick just one winning number per draw I would not wager large amounts to kill the cow.

Nice to live in fantasy land and dream on.

The funny thing is that those 1 trillion dollars will not be spent, is the interest on those 1 trillion dollars that will be used...Those 1 trillion dollars will be used for emergency....The only problem is the damn taxes..And this is only counting the U.S is not counting the rest of the world...

Lets assume the cap was 3 million, that will be 3 million x 38 or whatever number of state have pick3, it will equal: 114 million in 1 day...in a week it will be 800 million in 10 years it will be 520 BILLION and in 20 years it will be 1 trillion....

1 TRILLION, enough to change this world...

ok lets say the cap is three million. And you were doing this by yourself, you would have to buy 6 thousand 1 dollar straight tickets. For every draw two draws a day = 12,000 bucks where are you going to find time to buy all 12,000 tickets let alone cash them your daily payout would be 6 million. 42 million a week. How much money do you need to be satisfied.

First off we have discussed this topic many times.... pick 3 and 4 games are big money makers the bookies figured this out a long time ago.......... the states outlawed gambling on the street and took over the games..... while the bookies still make some money on the street they know their is no system do do what you suggest. So to do the lottery's.

If there were such a system it would have been done to death and everybody would be doing it.

I know they do, but if you knew that number you could play it till they cut that number off. How many times do you think they would continue with p/3, if one man, could take them for thousands everyday. Personally, I think they would suspend p/3, until they figure out what was going on.

State lottery's have safeguards built in for pick 3 and 4 games. No numbers can be played to the extent of their threshold limit. They have a cap so when a certain number is bet to a point where the payout is about to exceed the threshold amount they cut that number off.

Are you saying that maybe you can actually do this? Or are you just curious what people would do if they could. I don t think a person could ever hit everyday, not with computerized drawings anyway, anyway if too many people would pick the same number, they could just change the numbers. So its never going to happen that a person or even a group is going to break down any pick 3 lottery.

I don't play the P3 and P4 games but judging from what happened in Tennessee when its computer was accidentally programed to not generate any doubles or triples there by eliminating 280 of the 1000 possible combinations, the players complained the game wasn't fair, apparently they didn't want to win if they couldn't do it by picking doubles or triples.

Would you hit hard and fast knowing they would shut it down in three or four days.
