On Topic: Some of you have read The Secret. I don't buy the claims of the book for a second. Positive thinking only affects your attitude and people's reaction. Things like lottery jackpot is completely out of the influence of positive thinking. It's all luck.

Here's my definition of a bad and good habit:

Bad habits are actions, behaviors, deeds that do not produce positive results (i.e. smoking, drugs, etc).

Figure is accurate. Oprah did a whole show on it and Vh1 as well as other news outlets have done stories on past big lottery winners. Vh1 just ran a repeat of their show. \

Most of them just don't know how to handle that much money and what comes there way after winning.

Exactly! It has nothing to do with religion. It all depends what your true intentions are. Alot of people do good things not because they are pure hearted or care but because there is something in it for them(fame, more money, etc). To the outsider we might say wow that people is a good person because he gave x amount to charity or did this or that. I know exactly what you mean. I've known people who used to believe but something happened to shatter their faith and they go the opposite way. That's understandable. Sorry to disagree lottolaughs but having faith doesn't change anything unless you believe in it. I've said this before on other posts. Good people win lotteries, Bad people win lotteries. Atheist, Agnostics, Christians, Jews, Muslin, Buddhist, etc. all win lotteries. I do see your point though. As far as deserving to win a jackpot, there' are plenty of people who deserve to win a jackpot, but that's just not the way it works.

You say you're an atheist, but says you deserve a jackpot like you expect some overgodly spirit will give it to you.

I am also an atheist and don't expect to win a jackpot unless pure coincidences and luck give it to me.

1st prizes are for the lucky ones. 2nd to 5th prize are for people with good systems (hopefully).

That would be like asking if one person deserves to get cancer. Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people.

I hope you don't think giving money to homeless people makes you a better person than someone else. It's just that most people don't talk about it or expect to be rewarded for helping others. They just do it.

If you can afford it, (no one at home will pay the price) I don't see a problem with it. However, don't expect to be rewarded for these good works with a jackpot win.

When I win, I'd like to help finance a micro bank that gives loans to the poor to start a small business like car waxing or tailoring for a dry cleaner.

Sometimes I drive to downtown LA to buy some Japanese books and buy Korean art supplies. I see a lot of beggars. I can't just pass by them without giving them a dollar. It's just me. I am not really a compassionate person. I can be a mean snip . But I almost always give money to them. I don't care if they are fake beggars at all. I don't care if they will use the money for drugs. I just hand out a dollar bill to them.
