It sounds like a good idea to me. I am not certain of the method, but I think a national lottery will do a good job to raise money. It would probably be a seven number game though or something crazy like that.

That's a very good idea, TNTicketLoser....

but who has a 100,000 debt? What kind of debt are we talking about...Credit card debt can come up to 25,000 dollars

so there will be like 380,000 winners each year who will get 25,000 dollars redemable in elimination of debt...

but i have to admit this will only need to be used in depression/recession times because otherwise everyone will want to get in debt on purpose....

KentuckyFloyd is right they don't need the billionaire...You see the USA does not need the 1 billion dollar winners..That's reseved for other less affluent countries....Is reserved for countries that are not doing so good economically...

so the 3,200 1 million dollar winners will be 4,200 instead...

is not a bad idea because other countries will need the billionaires...just that the USA does not need billionaires....

If the lottery was purely random, we would all still have to overcome odds of around 400 million to 1. But by using your suggestions and deciding who wins, it's not a lottery at all and most of us would have no chance at all. It would just be a donation.

I'd rather just donate the 10 bucks to an organization that benefits many people than donate to one that makes a few people super rich.

but what about:

1 1billion dollar winner [every year]

30 50 million dollar winers [every year]

230 10 million dollar winners [every year]

3,200 1 million dollar winners [every year]

= 8 billion dollars

and 1 billion as tax for the government.....

And all this by taking 30 dollars a year as tax...

How about if we take 20 dollars max for each person at maximum 30 no more than 30...

Then it will be a:

1 billion dollar winner

10 50 million dollars winners

70 10 million dollar winners

800 1 million dollar winners...

and this is done every year...

but it should be tax free....

I think that 1 billion dollars is good...But it should also have a handful of 100 million dollar winners and 10 million dollars winners and 1 million dollars winners...Either 1 billion or 500 million...I really will like the idea of

1) Ok, so this isn't real. But it's an idea. What's yours? Shrink the Gov't to about 5% of its current size.

2) How should a national lottery work? The way it works now. Born in the USA, you win; born in Crapistan, you lose.

3) Should the US be in the business of lotteries as a federal practice? Not just no , Hell no .

For a government lottery, I would like the idea of a tax-filling incentive. Everyone who pays there taxes on time gets entered into a lottery, which is pooled from $200,000,000 of tax-payer money, and pays out 40 lucky winners with $5,000,000 each.

Well in a sense Obama is already doing something like this...with his healthcare for all initiative. Some sick smucks will end up using it alot, thereby winning the billion dollar prize medical care. Others will use less, but still in the milliion dollar range (can anyone say Nadia Schulumann or however which way you spell the woman who had the octupulets but couldn't afford to pay for the medical care she received?!!!). I don't like the idea of being forced to put in $10 into a lottery, and I don't like the idea of only 506 winners out of what appears to be possible 400,000,000 (I don't think there are even that many SSNs out there). A national lottery in the U.S. might work someday, it would give state lotteries some true competition and get them to step up their game, and it would help pay off this debt, but I would be against this precise proposal. Just my two cents.

Right off the bat it's not believable. All prizes will be tax free .... That right there says as much. Considering the talk of taxing health benefits I doubt anyone is going to have any taxes cut including and especially those who win the lottery.

A few years back, Ohio thought like that and it almost put Ohio lotteries out of business. I think it was in the early 90's when the surrounding states still didn't have a lottery and people from Indiana, Pennsylvania and Kentucky would come to Ohio to play the 649 game which had jackpots of $40-$75M at the time. Someone came up with idea of limiting the amount one ticket could win to $20M, that way as long as the jackpot amount was large all winning tickets would get $20M instead of one getting... [ More ]

is a great idea but I think it should be studied more, perhaps study what more can be done that is productive...the only problem with that is that it is too large the sample and there will be 3 thousand majority winners for every 1 person a minority or black person or asian person...Not only is there minorities but there are groups that are WAY smaller than minorities...
