I would have never thought of asking for a charitable receipt from the church, mostly because it would never have occurred to me. I didnt know it was a requirement for the church. So even when I give the % of a small lottery win to the church , since I give it in the form of a check during tithing , it would automatically be recognized. If you drop CASH into the offering, then they have no way of knowing who gave it, but if you write a check, they will send the statement to the name and address on the check.
