Ya I've had better luck on machines when buying a few tickets. I can't count the number of times I've stuck 10 bucks in, buying a 2, 3, and 5 dollar one and won all 3. It's strange how that worked out quite a few times.

Well here in Illinois most places only have the machines to buy the tickets. Very few places don't have the machines. In fact only 2 gas stations that I know of don't have the machines in my area. But I can't complain on machines. Because most my big wins have come out the machines including my biggest wins ever on a scratch offs which $400 dollars twice once in 2005 and 2009...

Right Holee.... no cash payouts, but a pop-up box tells you this if you double scan! Local food chain uses them near me....but I like to know what # ticket i'm playing....so the first buy is a random chance----but aren't they all

I have bought $5 Black Pearls only for the machine to spit out $5 Monopoly.

Also one time I clicked on $20 Monopoly and Gold Rush came out.

Since I never give away any ticket that ive held i played both of them. but i think i lost on both.

Best little surprise to happen to me, well about 3-4 times now, is paying for a $20 scratch off with $100 dollar bill and getting $110 back, a $50 mixed in with 3 $20s. I wasnt going to say anything either because I was cheated by that store once so... [ More ]

I personally only ever saw ticket amounts being wrong like a $5 ticket only charging $2. Thats what I mentioned before about human error. I certainly pay attention and will take advantage of it if I see it. I prefer machines, but the place I frequent is a really nice couple, so I like to interact with them.

I often wonder if anyone has ever bought from an istant machine and got a bigger dollar ticket instead. Like buying a $5 20X the cash but it spitting out a $20 BDB. Im sure theres bound to be that kinda mistake with these machines.

I worked in a grocery store for 10 years. I can tell you the machine is just a way to get more tickets available. We only had room to keep about 15-20 behind the counter. This was a way to get another 20 games out to be played. I can also speak about TheGameGirls problem with the ticket cutting. It is the store who installs the tickets. I use to do it often. High traffic supermarket machines do increases your odds a little bit, let me repeat just a little bit, due to more people scratching and paving the way to a winner. However, as you all know, winning tickets are all location dependent, as the winners are distributed to random locations throughout the state.

The advantages of machines are...

You don't have to deal with a clerk.

Some locations have a high roll turnover.

They are faster and more convienent to use.

here in ohio i been lately getting the first few tickets on a roll and losing big time. they seem to put in new rolls on monday am after the weekend where I go, so I try to get there soon after and play the first 10 tickets or so...I been losing money doing this though.

I noticed you said the winner on Blockbuster was # 091,how could that be , I seen rolls of blockbuster tickets sold and the roll never had more than 40 tickets per roll. If thats the case;

091/30 =2,730.00

091/20=1,820.00 I have never seen a 100 ticket roll in Florida in any game , I usually buy at gas station and the quick-stop

stores.It would be nice to verfy what you are saying ,I dont feel some of the stores I shop in will put up that kind of money for tickets.

I've played enough tickets to tell you the winners could be anywhere. I usually vary my plays, found it much better to take a couple from each of the $5 and 1 from the $10's, ocassionally tempted to take a $20. I've tried taking 5 to 10 tkcts of $5 at once, and it has not been as profitable, sometimes losing more than 50%. What a good question. I only wish we had machines in Delaware because, some retailers are such jerks therefore, I 'd prefer to use machines for everything. It was in the news with Monopoly and Gold Rush both winners said it was the last ticket ( or first ). And there is a image of the winning Monopoly ticket online somewhere forgot where I saw it.

BDB winner I read from an interview and he mentioned the ticket #.

Had this happen to me yesterday. My $20 dollar Monopoly got stuck inside the machine but I got lucky and had a store clerk open it within a minute. Ticket was scratched to hell but hey it won.

Today one of my tickets came out so creased and banged up it was almost impossible to scratch. The machine had its way with the ticket I suppose.

Definitely don't go there anymore, TheGameGrl! I had that happen once at Giant with a BWS ticket. It cut the whole scratch area off. They gave me my $10 back. As for the Lottery, they usually won't give much satisfaction. After all, they took off the visual ticket win/loss codes with no regard for the players.

Hey! I never realized that but you are right! They dont curl, they just get sliced incorrectly when the machine goes to cut them /tear them from the roll. I had a machine do that to me and it voided the ticket entirely! I complained to the manager of the store and he said, its a gambling game and you took a risk and lost, sorry bout your luck! I am liking the machines. Less waiting in line and I believe they can win just the same. It's just a roll of tickets and any roll can win, although most are filled with losers. Just have to know when to stop which I've had a problem with the Just one more syndrom. Even after a 100.00 from a Millionaire club I went and played the next few tickets.

Most ive won out of a machine is $100 ( 4 times )

I don't know why but every time I play I always get tickets numbered 020 - 045 and its starting to piss me off as 70% of those are losers. However I notice 040 and 044 win almost every time, though only small amounts. Ironically my $100 wins all came from 003 - 019 range. I think the lottery is just a bigger, more important part of a c-store's everyday profit-maker than it is in a supermarket. The QuickTrips are all corporate stations, and they don't really post any winners there, but none of them are owned by individuals; they are all owned by the same person. I had seen that there was a grand prize winner (the $2 $1,000 A Week For Life game) in my area, and today I found out where it was sold. A gas station about 5 miles away. Thw winning ticket was #45 and a xeroxed copy was on the wall. They had $500 and $1,000 winners on the wall, too - a $500 Jingle Bell Doubler, a $500 Merry Millionaire, and the grand prize winner.

I bought 2 20x the Moneys there with no luck, but a Jingle Bell Doubler did win a small amount.

I try to get the scoop from the clerks about the scratch machines. Some of them don't pay attention but one guy noted 2 500 winners on the Golden Goose ticket. This was in same week at a publix in FL. I don't mind the machines but one inconsistency is difffernt people load the tickets so when I grab a ticket and its 24 and I want 25, I buy the next ticket but 23 comes out. Because they put the ticket rolls in different, some count up some count down,you never know.

Look at the ticket number. It is on the front and back of the ticket. You can tell if they are in order if you can read numbers and count. I have always found them to be in order, at least here in GA. I have heard of 10 losers in a row. As far as I know, tickets are not printed specifically for machines or clerks. Hi all,

Whats the deal with these Scratch off Ticket vending machines ?!?! I bought 5 - $5 scratch off tickets all in a row and won zero, zilch,nada ! Are the tickets that are placed inside these machines, come off the original roll or do they tear them apart and stack them into the machines and therefore, mixing up their order and screwing up the overal odds that should have been a win in 1:4.36 ?!?!? I feel I got the shaft on this deal.. no more machines for me.. I want those tickets torn

Rule for using the machines is to always have the extra dollars and make sure you are using good dollars. There is nothing more frustrating than the machine rejecting your money when you have paid almost all of the amount due.

That is the only drawback I have experienced with the machine. It is frustrating as HE11

My brother was in line paying for groceries and his son was pressing the buttons on the lotto machine playing around and out popped a slingo ticket (NJ). He scratched it off and it was a $50 winner. My brother has luck like that it's weird. Another time he bought me and my mom 2 scratch offs. All the same game. I won $15 and my mom won $50, and the 2 he bought for himself was a winner too, I think it was $10.

I stopped to look at the machine in my Fred Meyer yesterday. I noticed that you can get your online tickets there too, Powerball, Megamillion, etc.

I'm glad I noticed before I played that with that machine, you don't get any change. If you put a $20 in wanting a couple $1 tickets, tough luck. Spend it or lose it to the next customer.

I would think that your chances of getting a winning ticket from a machine in a high traffic grocery store (or restaurant...gas station...liquor store...etc) would be higher than in a lower traffic grocery store(etc) since the tickets will run out and be changed more frequently. So perhaps the machine may or may not make a difference but rather how many tickets are newly circulated. Just my 2 cents

The machines must not be too bad. I asked someone at the local Giant food store what the highest payout was there, and they had a $20,000 one on a $20 ticket - within the last month. The local beer store said they've been doing well with Diamonds and Pearls, Fantastic 5s, and Eagles/Steelers tickets. I got my $50 D P ticket from the beer store today, and my $100 BWS from Giant. I live in Ohio, and just about every supermarket has a lottery instants machine.

I really do so much better then getting them from the clerks...

one stradegy I do is buy all the $1 tickets or $2 tickets usually about 5 diffrent tickets each..and then scratch them off..to see which are winners...any losing tickets I go back and buy the ones lost on, and usually win then. Also if you dont want to scratch off you can scatch only the bar code and then scan the tickets at the machine,... [ More ]
