RNG's are also an opportunity for people to work out some mathematical method of detecting and exploiting a RNG bug before the officials discover it. But definitely keep the hammer down til you're out of Ky.

Did you ever see the movie Deliverance? Well, I'm not going to go into detail about that but think Deliverance on a massive scale when you go through Kentucky.

Make sure you have enough gas to get through the state so you don't have to stop anywhere.

... Good mix of opinions here. With what I've learned, it doesn't make much difference to me which way they draw the numbers. The ball machine test draws are headquarters' insurance policy. In most cases I believe that they're all video taped, then they select the official draw from the bunch.

oh man i loved those rng's.

bought 2...7 number combos for western 6-49 here in canada. i picked my own numbers on both tickets. they give you a free quick pick portion with each. heres my 1st tickets numbers i chose...1-8-27-30-36-44-47.

heres the quick pick portion on the 2nd ticket....1-8-10-30-36-46-47.

the rng was too lazy..it gave 5 of the numbers i picked on the other ticket...

rigged...totally rigged.

I noticed that, in the Tennessee Lottery, my birthday (104) has clusters of times where it wins a lot, and then other periods of times where it does not.

I remember 104 (my birthday) hitting there 4 times in 16 months (06-26-05, 12-24-05, 05-10-06, and 10-17-06). It did not win for 3 years and then came up twice in less than a month (11-21-09 and 12-09-09). But then, this probably happens in ball states too.

A P3 draw produced 997 in WA. The payouts were astronomical. By extrapolation of previous payouts and the numbers of tickets sold, there was somewhere around 200 strait winners alone at $500.00. I wonder who retired

I've always wondered about that switch story and whether they came up with it rather than admit all 3 numbers were being picked from a single pool of ten numbers which would have exposed that they hadn't thought through the design of their RNG.

The Tennessee rng demonstrated an intrinsic dishonesty in that lottery and by doing so cast doubt on all lotteries using an rng draw.

An honest lottery would offer a download of its rng on their website because anyone familiar with programming would be able to see it was an innocent rng with no tricks up its sleeve.

Instead the Tennessee lottery admitted their rng had a switch that could turn doubles on and off. Now why would that be in there?

I do agree with joker17, as well as others here, in regards to the pre-draws being shown. They definitely have significance if you're playing small sets of numbers. When playing larger sets of numbers, where the combinations begin to overlap and cover more ground , the pre-tests actually become much less of a concern.

Just a few questions, how many people are still employed on overtime or strait or salary when the switch was made? Is the presentation the same involving the same number of people in front and behind the camera? I'll bet a dollar that what you might see now is only a stepping stone to cutting PRODUCTION costs .

That's not entirely true. Some states, Minnesota, California, Louisiana, Tennessee all come to mind, have kept broadcasting draw shows even after the switch to computers were made, and they all still do today.

Funny thing is.....the machine can still break down during the draw. In fact, the more pre-tests they perform, the more wear and tear they impose on the machine, therefore increasing the entropy of the product. It's self defeating, and not a good enough reason in my opinion.....

Pre and post test results are normally considered public information and are available for viewing. Have been told that sometimes you have to go to lottery headquarters to see those results but they don't seem to be any big secret.

hardly because the only issue is that of: Ball or RNG, we have the problem of the test Draw which we have cero knowledge of what the results are!!

And every number drawn test or not is crucial to the workout sheet... we, (those of us who do workout sheets which involves number history) do not like flying blindly here!

I think the fear of manipulation is not pattern disruption per se but more that the manipulation would work towards reducing payouts or fostering illicit wins by a select few.

I'm actually a little confused by all the people who get down on RNG and QP.

If random number generators are programmed by people and can therefore be manipulated - wouldn't it be easier to find a pattern there than with a truly random event - making it easier to hit the lottery? (which I think is why we are all here) If you really believe you can decipher a pattern in the lottery - it seems like you'd be all for RNG draws.

I agree, and have been saying this for what seems like an eternity. Ball lovers think they have all the angles covered.

It's obvious that the officials are purposely withholding that info. How much more effort does it take to post the pretests right along with the actual draw?

I don't care what anyone says, that info is priceless to me. As far as I'm concerned, the pretest is just another draw.

If RNG and QP's were outlawed the lotteries would be forced to lower the odds. The reason they like the RNG is because it is easy, the same reason they (the lootery) like the QP, QP's increases the sales geometrically because, just like the lootteries......it is easier for the players to buy Qp's and have loser QP's adding to the RNG loottery agency coffers.

This discussion has risen before, and, is still a very good one. Maybe if we keep pounding it, things will change...maybe. I believe the lotteries feel that RNG is an easier, more efficient, and accurate means of drawing numbers. In reality, there have been far more problems and complaints with it than we all know of.

I dont live in a RNG state, they drop the ping pong balls here in NY.

As a matter of fact, for Lotto, three sets of ballsets are changed every three months.

For Take Five and Pick 10 there are also three ballsets and they are changed every two months.

Numbers and Win 4 ballsets are changed every month (both the midday and evening sets).

I guess they're NOT lazy here in New York........

As a proud wearer of the Tin-Foil Hat, I wll also agree with your assesment that the lottery folks are lazy. RNG are much easier to work than holding to a TV schedule, testing machines, loading the machines, loading the balls one does not want to come into play, loading the auditor with liquor 30 minutes before the mouse click , and loading the bonus paycheck when payouts are minimized.
