Both types of games have unique characteristics, if it was easier to figure out how to get rich playing the pick3 games some one would have already done it. When dollars spent are compared with dollars won, the games rate about the same (50% of tickets sales are returned in prizes). If you're playing for enjoyment then either type of game will do, but if you're playing hoping to get rich then it's only the jackpot games.

I don't understand the logic of this. You can't beat a 1000 to 1 for 500 bucks, but you're willing to spend money on millions to one because you'd rather win a huge JP.

99.9% of folks who play for the JP will never win in their lifetime.

I'd rather spend the time in trying to figure out a loophole in the p-3 on a regular basis which is much more realistic and practical.

But at the end, it's your choice. I hope you win the JP........

Playing the Pick 3 games have become incredibly frustrating for me. If I'm going to spend so much money just to win one game I would rather it be a major lotto game with a huge prize as opposed to won where I would win only $500. I feel that throwing away so much money every day on a small prize game is worse than the occasional spending on a major jackpot.

Maybe he refuses to believe he can't win or doesn't want to believe he can't win. Maybe he read The Secret 100 times. Maybe he tunes out everything you say. OK I know a few people like that.

It's funny that you mention about the losing tickets 'cause when I read your post I was thinking about the multiple states that sell PB times all the tickets sold just to hopefully produce 1 winning ticket. Most people only see the jackpot.

Most of the people I know that play don't see the odds or think about the odds. All they see is that someone won and they want to win too.

That's right. I hear it all the time. Someone wins most of the time, but what they don't throw into their calculation is how many millions of tickets were losers, in order for that one winning ticket.

During my 30plus year journey here in the NY Lottery I have done so... so hit the 3 digit Str8 quite a few times, hit the 4 digit game once Str8 in 2005 right on the front page of NY Lotto Stats magazine thanks Roy, and have hit every variation of the Win 4 game no match, doubles, double doubles and triples but not a quad, I have hit 4 of 5 in Take 5 three times but hopefully that will change real soon and big lotto games I have only hit a few 3 of 5 that is pretty much it. But

I checked pick 3 straight . I do get it once in a while and enough to stay in the game .

I play in a pool out of where I work and last night we had 127.00 in tickets . We didn't even get the powerball number . I'll be happy if we ever win but with plays like that , I don't expect to win that one.

In my thinking, most people throw away $2 to $3 on something they don't need. I do. I bought a new memory stick at Christmas to put my lottery files on. It is still in the original package.

Of course, I'm weird. I play with change saved in a spittoon. If the spittoon is empty, I don't play. And I only play serious at certain times of the year when the mood strikes.

When I play I'm hoping to win a jackpot.

But since experience is always the best teacher I'm not expecting to win anything.

I think we can also say that many jackpot game players don't even play the Pick 3.

Experience with the Pick 3 has taught me that no matter the method of number selection I'll miss by one digit.

I like the on line games because I like the anticipation of the drawing. But....(there's that but), waiting a whole month to check my tics????

hey my odds are in th range of 4 in 8 mill, and i am still disappointed ea night i dont see a jackpot win.

thats lead to a lot of disappointed nightsover the last 20 odd years.

Thanks for posting this.

Saving up tickets, and then checking them in bulk sounds like a good idea (though I can't wait a whole month, so it will have to be once a week lol)

I usually check as soon as the winning numbers are posted, but this sounds like a much better idea. Gives us more time to dream big

I have a friend at work who firmly believes he will win the PB. Even after extensive explanations of the astronomical odds of 1 in 195 million, I don't believe he gets it. So what i did was to give him a different perspective of how big 195 million really is. I did the research which showed that one cup of sand equaled about 3 million grains of sand, and based on my findings it turns out that 65 cups of sand in a bag would equal 195 grains of sand. I've said this a thousand times and I will say it another thousand times. Like you say, it's nice to dream, but the reality is that if someone can't beat the P-3 straight on a regular basis which is only 1000 to 1, how in the world is someone going to beat a JP game odds once? I love helping people out with their numbers and systems...but.....most of us have very high expectations when it comes to lottery goals and winnings.

I'm all for dreaming big...but...(there's always a but , right, psychomo? lol) on the other hand can we realistically expect to win a Pick 3 Straight every couple of days?
