I missed winning $500 in the Pick-3 once because I forgot to play the numbers that I wanted to play. I had predicted several months in advance that 104 would fall for the night draw on March 29, 2005. That day came around, I forgot my prediction, and 104 fell for the night draw

If it were me......... I would have done the same thing (only purchased the 2 tickets) Worse yet when I buy lottery tickets I only take the amount of money I'm planning on spending so buying the 3rd ticket wouldn't have been an option. I don't think I would sleep well. Oh and I would GRRRRRR alot! : )

Win some.......lose a whole lot more! I guess it's just part of the game

I feel your pain. When I was living in Oklahoma before they got a lottery, we had to go across the bridge to Witchita

Falls to play the Texas lottery. Running late, I forgot to get my baby sister numbers to play. Well, I had a couple quick picks. I liked the way a few numbers in it looked, and circled those. I wrote those down and through in the 26 (I was born on the 26th). The reason they were in order was because I was in the store, about to place the bet, when a bunch of people came in (and some of them had long lists) and my friend was waiting for me.

I've learned the hard way to always buy the mistake ticket on lotto whether it's the clerk's mistake or my mistake. I even posted about it here. Now I will add this to remember. . . if I go to buy 2 scratchers and the clerk says there's 3 left, do I want all 3, I will know what to do, buy 'em!!

That's really interesting, you not only wrote down the winning numbers but wrote them down in their sorted order. Had you ever done that before? Were those numbers special to you? I've written down 4-19 and 419 often myself because they are my birth date and area code. Often when I use my lottery program to pick numbers and its RNG needs a seed number I enter 419.

About 8 years ago the lady who bought her scratch off tickets JUST before me won $10,000. What made me feel better was that I would not of bought that ticket either way.

4 years ago this one guy who just hangs around our 7-11 all day long bought the ticket I was going to buy and won $5,000. That one stung.

Another instance I was playing $1 tickets and after 6 losers went to get my 7th ticket. Turns out some guy had been watching me and beat me to the line and bought 2 of the same ticket.... [ More ]

How many of us have picked a pick 3 number, played it a few days, stopped playing it and a day or so later it comes in? Or have played it on the midday and had it hit on the evening or vice versa. I have plenty of times, and so has every other lottery player. All you can do is say oh well and try again tomorrow. But rest assured it will happen again, unfortunately.

If I had won that and knew someone almost had that ticket too I would have felt bad for them not winning and I would give them something. I always think when I win, if its at a store where everyone is nice I would share some with them. A couple months ago I wrote down the numbers 4-19-26-28-39-? For the Mega Millions, (The ? was for Mega Ball) but the line in the store got really long and I left. I don't usually play Mega, but the Jackpot was pretty high, so I was going to that night.

That night, those 5 numbers came up exactly. I was soooooooo dissapointed. If I had waited for 2 minutes, I would have won 250,000 grand that night.

So, yeah, I know know if feels.

oh yeah i forgot to say it still sucks, and blows too. one of my bad calls cost me $100k on the stock market. i didnt lose it, i just didnt make it. and it took about 3 months of feeling pretty bad, really bad to get over it.

used to have a friend that had the wierdest luck with scratch offs .......

thar'd be the occasional night he'd of spent the very last few dollars to his name for the time and he'd hit it ... then thar'd be other nights specially after getting paid hes spend the few dollars and wouldn't get a thing

chalk it up as a lesson for the moment ... and when all else fails try try again

yeah the universe is made up of atoms that zig and zag, in reality nothing is solid , its all a state of flux, ive noticed that when i win, or lose, at something the time i make the descision is a surreal state, when all possibilities are open. you just dont recognise them until after the event.

how to recognise these instances ?

you just did, i have only seen em after the event,sometimes ive zigged and sang for joy, others ive zagged and sighed that lady luck plays me for giggles.

always be the person that buys the winning ticket just after the person before them. The thing

here is that you were there to wittness to it. Don't be too hard on yourself as the 3 tickets
