So far, I haven't seen any references by the physicists to this aspect of the game. I'm sure it's a valid concern, but maybe once you get into the big leagues there is enough scrutiny of the players from the sideleines, videocams and all, that it ceases to be the biggest concern.

AGREED, Vegas is a entertainment magical mecca where the hand is hired to be faster then the eye. often amateur magicitans are employed because of their abilities to effectively deal with the cards,,,,,a second card can be dealt out of the shoe, with you looking at it, and you wouldn't have a clue, so just imahine the possibilities with a hand held deck.

Don't worry about the dealers, worry about other players. In poker the casinos take a small rake from the pot - meaning they take a small payment from each pot for running the game so it's in their best interest for everything to be on the up and up. It's the other players you need to worry about cheating.

The casinos seem to have plenty of ways to thwart cheaters at their games, including large employees to show them the exits! What recourse does a player have if they suspect a dealer is doing something like what you described above

A recent show on Nova showed how a magician used one hand to distract the audience while performing the illusion with the other hand.

Card Dealers use similar techniques.
