How would you rate the State Lottery website in your locality?

I'd rate my state lottery (VA)'s website pretty highly. My only issue is that, if the midday drawing has occurred, they do not list the previous night's evening drawing.

I would lower grades pretty heavily for states that do not have their full number history listed (examples: CT, KS, KY, MO, RI). The worst example I can think of is Connecticut's numbers games go back to 1977, but they stop their history at 1999.

The PA Lottery website is good, although I haven't been able to find more than the top 3 remaining prize tiers for scratch offs. Now my rating for the scratch offs themselves is another matter - LOL.

Hi Guru: I hadn't noticed the change. The site is more appealing to the eye, but I see your point about the past draws, even the most recent ones. If you plug in the dates for Pick 5, 2001 until now, you get 107 pages with 10 draws to the page. A person has to wonder why they bothered having them at all if they were going to make it impossible to use.

Your C seems generous.

I understand about the small fonts, but I do like the fact all the winning numbers are out front, and I like how I can put in one set of numbers and search it over several drawings, which is handy for multidraw tickets.

But I guess it could use some improving.

I'd give the Hoosier Lottery website a C. The new website itself i more attractive than the old one, but there are 2 things the website lacks. Firstly, there was the removal of the Previous 25 drawings page. I could go to the page and it would show the last 25 drawing results. Now the only way to see a range of past results is to do a search specifying the start and end date. Secondly, the Hoosier Lottery website does not show the cash option for Powerball, Mega Millions, or Hoosier Lotto. I wis... [ More ]

Sorry to hear that. I was stationed at Fort Jackson, SC, for basic training in 1961. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Krushchev had said we had to be out of Berlin by September, October, and they'd called up the Army reserves, increased the draft, dropped basic training from 8 weeks to six weeks.

As nearly as I remember they were changing the numbers then, too, but not fast enough.

As of today, I give the Idaho Lottery website a D-. Powerball says one 5+0 ticket was sold here with the powerplay for a million bucks. The Idaho Lottery website lists all the states with $200K wins but comes up empty for the 1 mil Idaho winner. D'oh

I haven't asked for your assessment of what I do and I'd consider it presumptuous as well as rude to offer or entertain an opinion of what you do.

I commented on the fact the results and analysis of all online state lottery games can be found on Lottery Post with very user friendly tools. You said, User-friendly is apparently in the eyes of the beholder. as if tools on one state website trump all the tools on LP for all state games. I've played 4 minute Keno in three different states and feel lucky if I can get my bet in before the next drawing. There is nothing worse than standing in line while someone is fumbling around trying to make a bet, getting shutout, and watching the numbers on a 3, 4, or 5-spot ticket being drawn.

2] A lot of state websites provide a means of downloading complete draw histories for their games in a single, easy step, many of them in EXCEL format, many in text format. By comparison, the same downloads from LP would be a lot more time-consuming because of the need to go page-by-page.

Why do you go to the Texas, Florida, Rhode Island, and Georgia websites when that information is right in on LP with a very user friendly format

Thanks for the observations James1. I'd noticed Texas does that and was surprised to see it. I don't buy scratchoffs, but if I did I'd study that part of the Texas website to decide which ones to buy.

I think Pennsylvania has the best site.

Florida is pretty good too. I only wish they would have ALL scratch off winner locations listed even $1,000 prizes like PA does. And it does not make sense to have detailed odds on another website you have to go to fl rules to find them.

Texas has done a good job with showing all remaining prizes left even face value prizes.

Seems like Georgia just got updated, before I thought the scratch off section was terrible. Another terrible state is R.I. T... [ More ]

It takes the Kentucky site about a half hour after the drawing to give the results. I'm assuming it's because they give how much was paid out and how many winners there were in each game. Personally I'd like to know just what numbers were drawn five minutes after the drawing.

Illinois is slower on speed, but they WILL come in and correct in the morning.

I'm going to give Colorado an A for their enthusiasm and for trying to come up with something good for residents, however I'll give them a B to a C for their actual site. They recently changed it and I think the former site was better. This new site takes longer to load and for user user-friendliness, it's a bit difficult to find what you want. Overall I think Colorado does a decent job, I just don't like this particular website.

Coin Toss: Missouri is a mixed bag in my view. Great site in a lot of ways, but they require a Freedom of Information Demand if anyone wants more than 10 draws from their keno game results. I see what you mean, just pulled up the site. Its 'strange' Everything is SMALL and hard to read - some words must be a 5 or 4 font!!. Colors don't work well.

Missouri has an excellent site.

Illinois is pretty decent, but searching for numbers history is weak....if you're searching for Pick 3, say, and a nunmber like 124 you can search Straigvht or Any Order....but Any Order tells you when 1, 2, or 4 hit in combination with other numbers.

The New Jersey site's up there among the best role models any State Lottery Commission could hope for in a website. I suppose it's natural for people enjoying the benefits of an already good one to want more.

I don't browse other state's websites very much, but I'm happy with Texas's website. It has all the info I need to follow the games, and I like to read the minutes of the Commission's meetings.

I especially like the way they have the previous draws of all the games presented so it's easy to see the history.

I browse a lot of lottery websites and I'm surprised at the range of attitudes of lottery personnel and lottery webmasters reflected in the way they design their sites. Some sites seem to show a depressing reluctance to have a website at all, while others have taken approaches dedicated to user-friendliness, simplicity, cooperation and smiling promotion of the product they sell. Still others go the last mile with that, plus imagination and enthusiasm.
