yes, I recently met a woman who won a million last year... playing a $20 instant scratch off. She even showed me a $100 winning ticket and told me that she has another $500 winning ticket that she hasn't cashed yet...

I know a guy believe it or not has won little lotto twice...... 2008 2010 he is not trying to win he just buy a ticket yes one ticket on Friday. lol

he a very nice person but not too good with money he spent its on material things it takes him about 2 months to spend all the money.

You know, it's funny. I didn't think I knew a winner, then after reading some of these, I realized my sibling's in-law Uncle won - it was rumored. About 7 million in a NY lottery. That was a couple decades ago. They were really wise with it, gave some away, etc. Within the past few years, the money is now gone, but I think they were rich beforehand anyway, so they are still fine .

Not too shabby.

Yes, several, and so now my neighbors think that I'M lucky. Kidding aside though, each situation was very different. I know that there have been discussions about this in other threads, but the publicity didn't serve any of these winners well, even within their own personal spheres. I feel that it's important for any winner, whether they've won 10,000 or 10,000,000, to be able to remain anonymous. Yes i do and it could of been me.

Back in the early 90's here in Michigan it was either Michigan Lotto or The Big Game a friend won. I was in the drug store when i saw a high school buddy. We were talking as we were in line at the register. I said to Rusty hey you go in front of me as i am only getting Lotto tickets and his arms were full of stuff. He kindly declined. I got 5 Ez picks and after me Rusty got 5 Ez picks.

He won the jackpot. As far as i know he's doing well, no unfortunate... [ More ]

i have some cousin of some sort who won a rather large jackpot in TX maybe a decade or so ago???

The only people I know that really play the lottery are my step-brother and then the people on here, so that kind of limits how many people I would know (especially since I doubt anyone on here who has hit a major jackpot would even let that out).

Yea, I do. She has won many times. The biggest was $2million on a scratch ticket maybe 10 years ago and then about 2 years ago she won $1million on a scratch ticket. She has won many times on KENO and other LOTTERIES.

She has given me advice. Scratch is luck but you just have your own method of picking scratch game to play. She liked to play 3 and 4 number on KENO.

i metsomeone won $15 mill on powerball, their family relations are strained, they gave too much money away, bought too many houses, and property isnt doing too well,. not like USA bad , but they still have a few mill, and quite a few houses. but think they would do things different if they had chance again.

I didnt know her back when she won it.............but I remember the draw that nite back then ...............because there were two winners and one of them wasnt too far from home.........she won it on a mistake ticket ( never leave a ticket behind )

I heard about it for years after that

It was a lot.........even after splitting it with the other winner in the state........I am thinking it was 15 million after the split

I know a guy who won super lotto in the 80's. He won a little over 3 million dollars. He still plays everyday and he still has money. He only carries one hundred dollars bills never more tha one thousand dollars and he is a very sweet man.

Two people. One, whose story ended very badly. It was actully his mother who won, but he helped her to spend the money.

The other took his money and returned to his country of origin. (He is probably living like a king now.

In 1987 when BIG Lotto was the rage for multi state games, the jackpot had reached 4 million...back then it was a decent amount to retire on...The Lady won ( she was 68 years young and as sweet as apple pie!). I knew her because I worked with her. Ive come across a couple of big winners often while scratching at the store. a regular who won $500K in 2006 is broke now, cause he blew the money on thousands of tickets over the years. another guy who won $100K only has a bicycle to his name ...

of course another regular at the publix near me won $4 million on the lotto. he was in the store every day playing heavy $300 a day but i have not seen him around much anymore. if i were him id quit personally.

I know a man, 6 months short of retirement, won $1.3 million on the Missouri lottery, he was a co-worker. Lol everyone thought it was me, lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I wish.

I know another person, a woman won $50,000.00 for life, on a scratch off, she took the lump sum payout, I don't know how she's doing now.

Yeah, I do. Actually, I know two people that won a lottery jackpot, but their stories arent as good as you might think. Their stories arent bad stories, but neither person is wealthy beyond their wildest dreams.

i might know someone, but i can't be sure.my cousin retired from his job(pipe fitter) early(age 55) and moved to a small far away (abt 10 hrs. behind the wheel) town where he didn't know anyone.i never thought much abt. it til i read here on LP that people who hit the jp should do just that, the only way i'll ever know is if tells us, not gonna ask him.

I do know someone. I wrote about this a few weeks ago. He's a fellow driver at work, but is no longer working at the moment due to back problems. He's a big dude and loves his Italian food...lol

Everyone here on Lottery Post argues about what to do if you win a jackpot prize, but does anyone actually know someone who actually won a jackpot prize ($1 million or larger) and what happened to them?

I have read stories of jackpot winners and what happened to them over the years. I don't know any jackpot winners personally, but I am curious about what happens to everyday people who win such a large prize of $1 million or larger.
