Thanks! I was happy to win $100. (Bought 6 tickets, so almost broke even. I can live with that.)

I'm surprised that there wasn't at least one winner out of your 50 tickets. What a bummer.

Will be curious to see where the big winners were sold.

Congratulations nsv314! I looked up your number and saw you won $100.00! Congrats! Well, as usual, the 50 tickets we bought this year, NONE were winners! We had one ticket that was one digit off from winning $500.00. Oh well, we might try again next year but I'm doubting it.

It took me a long time to get on it - kept getting a message saying that the site was unavailable.

Of course, I closed out that tab before I saw your post. I know that 3 of the 4 $1 million winners were in the 2XX,XXX ticket range, and the other ticket started with 140. (140,291...possibly?)

If I get back in the site before you, I'll post the big winning numbers.

Ok, I think the Ohio Lottery has lost its mind. Now their website says Today's the Day - Check back at 8:00pm for drawing results . Good grief, I guess it's back to January 2nd (Today). Oh well, I'm glad it's today and not tomorrow.

The Ohio Lottery website says that it will post results online at 8:00pm January 3rd! It was suppose to be January 2nd, so I don't know what the hold up is and it says they sold out

In the past when the Ohio Lottery didn't sell all the tickets, they still held the drawing on the advertised date and paid out the full prize list. Unlike some other state lotteries that extend the drawing date and/or lowered prize pool.

Well, I now have 41 tickets....only 9 more left to buy. As of yesterday the number was in the 280,000. I still think they will sell out again this year. I think a lot of people will be buying them next week.

Bought another ticket tonight on a whim. The number was 148,433.

Will be interesting to see how many tickets are sold. Still a long way off from 500K, and they have been on sale for a month already. Perhaps people tend to wait until the last minute?

Though truthfully, I don't care if they sell all 500K tickets as long as they still give away the prizes. Fewer tickets = better odds for those who are in the drawing, right? ;)

I got this info from ticket sellers magazine.under for retailors section.

The New Year s Raffle ticket print is limited to 500,000

tickets.

$1 million - 4 1 in 125,000 - $4,000,000

$10,000 - 10 1 in 50,000 - $100,000

$1,500 - 120 1 in 4,167 - $180,000

$500 -1,000 1 in 500 - $500,000

$100 - 2,200 1 in 227 - $220,000

---------------------------------------------------------------------

TOTALS - 3,334 1 IN 150 $5 MILLION

Yes, it 500K tickets again.

It isn't clearly marked on the website, which I think is unfortunate. They should document it in the rules.

However, I saw it recently on the main page of the website, in the little red box that shows the Ohio Lottery's Twitter feed. (Said something about the raffle, then only 500,000 tickets will be sold.

I read about the raffle on the Ohio lottery website. Interesting that they say it's the best odds to win a million dollars, but I don't see what the odds are or how many tickets they are selling this year. Is it 500,000 tickets again

Ohio is trying to stimulate sales by mailing out coupons with Buy one $20 New Year's raffle ticket, get one $5 instant holiday scratch-off ticket free . I seldom buy raffle or scratch-off tickets regardless of their price.

Good luck Lottery Guy! Idaho's started last week too, but I doubt I'll get even one. I've bought a few tickets for each of the last 4 or 5 raffles and never won anything. Only $10 here but that's a lot of money to me.

I was nervous about only having 1 ticket, but the tickets were $100 each. I couldn't realistically afford more than 1 ticket at that time.

Right now, I only have 1 ticket in the Ohio New Year's Day Raffle. I probably will get a few more - I don't mind risking a few tickets at the $20 price. Thought about buying a ticket every payday - figured 1 every 2 weeks would spread out the numbers a little.

I would agree that its hard to have a strategy with a raffle. You either get lucky or you don't.

I won a very substantial raffle prize once. (Substantial as in 6-figure value.)

After my name was drawn, a lot of people started asking me how many tickets I had purchased. Only bought one ticket, but I guess it was the right one.

Actually, I don't think there can be any kind of strategy with the Raffle, just better odds of winning something. Last year I just thought that perhaps a number would hit between the 50 tickets we purchased. This year just hoping for a hit and miss type of situation. Good luck to everyone

Ticket sales appear to be brisk. I just bought a ticket - #1082. The clerk said she had sold a ticket an hour or so before me, and that ticket # was in the 600s.

I'll buy another ticket or two, but want to space them out a little.

Thanks for the advice, I tried that one year too and it didn't work but last year we were off by 3 or 4 tickets, which I think were previous to ours but it was only a $100 winner. Of course, I've got to think that they're $20/each and with a total of $1000, that only gets us 50 tickets out of 500,000. The way we're doing it this year, we've never tried before so hopefully random numbers will hit something. Thanks for the well wishes

You should check the previous Raffle results to see how many winners are in groups of 50 consecutive numbers and if there are very few, you should try buying them in five or ten consecutive increments this year.

Well, last year a friend of mine and me went in together and spent $500 each, totaling $1000 and we got all of our numbers right in a row but won absolutely nothing. This year, we're doing it again but we're going to buy one ticket a day to spread them out. Hopefully, we'll win something this year! We decided if we don't win anything again this year then it's very doubtful we'll play it again because $500 each is a lot of money to spend. Will have to keep my fingers crossed for this year...
