I personally like Lucky5of5's advice. The IL Lottery posts an updated weekly count on a pdf document how many prizes are left per scratch-off game and I like to buy the ones which have more prizes remaining. Its just a matter of odds. In regards of how many to buy, I try to buy at least 3, 4 or 5 at a time in a row depending on the cost of the tickets.

To answer your question:

I typically buy 1 ticket at a time from multiple games. What I find to be a big dissapointment is when I buy a 20 dollar ticket and win nothing. For instance I'm torn when it comes to scratch tickets on either buying one ticket or buying 2 tickets from the same game at a time.
