All you need is one more piece of information beside the odds of the game: the number of people playing the drawing(s) you are questioning. That information is public record so you should be able to track it down. Once you have the total number of players for a drawing then you will see if there are more or less people winning than there should be. Over time, the statistics should approximate what is actually ocurring in real life.

Hmmm.......you raise a very good point there RJ. Now you've got me feeling guilty about keeping this sweet roll of scratchers.

Here's what I'm going to do to keep it fair. All the winning tickets I will keep. All the losing tickets, I will donate to my local paper recycling plant.

Thanks for bringing this unfair advantage to my attention. I now have a clear and clean conscience, and can get some sleep now

Didn't you read that news article about the New Jersey casino suing because those Asians won over a million dollars? Games of chance must be fair for both sides which means if the little guy wins and the big guy loses, something ain't right, some body cheating.

Play MM and PB, these games have a higher playership than the Washington lotto. I really like the Washington Hit 5, it has great odds and a $100k starting jackpot.Good luck.

I just wonder if he had really spent that much time studying lotteries and missed out winning a jackpot because he didn't play. I know if I thought I had the winning numbers I would plan to play early enough just in case a terminal was down I would have time to find another one before the drawing.

This is the 2011 comprehensive annual financial report and on page 15 there is a distribution chart showing showing the scratch-off payout percentage was 64.2% and drawn games were 48%. On page 36 is a chart with ten years of sales and prize payouts. You can easily check how much if any the payout percentages of scratch-off and online games varies from year to year.

I think if playing the lotteries is a serious hobby and a player is retired, spending a lot of time studying and picking combinations could be entertaining.

I have gotten the 6 numbers right before and it took months of research before I narrowed it down. I doubt anyone spent more time on choosing the right numbers than I did. I spent days on end because I had the time and money. I locked myself away in a cabin on the lake and devoted 18 months in chosing the correct numbers with several pieces of softare, instinct and luck. I did it but it took months.

That the WA ST lottery system is rigged! Just look at the payouts they pay for their scratch games. I seen in Florida you can actually win 1 million off a 5$ ticket. Not here though the top prize of a MILLION is on a 20$ scratcher and only 2 or 3 can be won compared to the 100's in Florida or some other state. While the officals of the WA ST lottery are raking in the cash from their games they only pay out a certain amount from what I have seen compared to NY,FLA, etc.This state is soo cheap whe... So Rjoh your simply saying that more people played their state lottery at that time vs today and this is why there were more wins? I dont know if I agree with this answer because if it were true wouldn't we all see the same results in Mega and PB? There is definatly millions and millions of more players in MM and PB than in a State lotto game. The same thing happened with Ohio Super Lotto about the same time. They used to add $4M to the jackpot after each drawings and jackpots went as high a $50 and were won every 5-15 drawings. When they limited payouts to $20M per tickets, people stopped playing. Most of the players were from out of state.

PowerBall was starting in the neighboring states so not only did out of state players stop coming to Ohio to play Super Lotto, Ohioans start going out of state to play PB.
