When I daydream of winning, I count all the money I would give awa yto family,friends and charity. So total I would need $18 million but I would like an even $20. Give away $13 to $15 million rest is mine. $3-5 million at 6.5% is $195000 to $325000. No I won't spend all that but I'm 27 inflation is gonna be ugly over the 50+ years i plan on living.

i worked out a formula for how much based on what you think and the avail interest rates.

x / 0.yyy

where x is the sum you would need to spend ea year. an 0.yy is the interest rate

if interest is %10 you would put 0.10

if interest rate is %2 you would put 0.02

so say you needed $50k a year and get 1.5% interest would need to win

50 000 / 0.015

= $3.333m

I could do it with 7 million after taxes. That is taking into account the current low interest rates for investments. I would be investing at least 80% of it in safe investments . I wouldn't take any chances with something with a higher return but riskier in terms of losing your initial investment. Living off the interst/dividends would be my goal and use the other 20% to have fun with.

Some folks work all their younger years to reach a standard of living that can't afford once they retire, they have to downsize.
