Ronnie, you're a sharp guy with numbers...and should know the answer to this question. If not, then I'm happy to help buddy. No, you haven't cut the odds in half with only a single number... even if you match it on every draw, we're still dealing with permutations in the end. The lotteries publish the overall odds because someone complained their advertising was misleading. It only takes one ticket to win and someone will win lot of money and it might be you . Those catch phrases are true but don't reflect how many players must lose so someone can win lots of money. The reality is a player will match three numbers, beat the odds per play of 306 to 1 and win six bucks.

Lets face it. The reason the states calls it overall odds is because they know that intangible forces play a big role in the ACTUAL ODDS that a person will experience in the real life situation of playing the lottery. RIGHT
