Ronnie, you're a sharp guy with numbers...and should know the answer to this question. If not, then I'm happy to help buddy. No, you haven't cut the odds in half with only a single number... even if you match it on every draw, we're still dealing with permutations in the end. That bonus number still has to correlate with at least (2) additional numbers, CONSISTENTLY, to effectively produce those odds. Why? Well, in lamens terms, you're half way there so to speak...'cause there are (6) numbers to match. To me, the game simply revolves around matching all (6) digits to win...just like any other game. The closer you can get to matching "X" amount of numbers each draw, the better your odds become.
But, with so many numbers involved, it's very, very expensive to even begin ensuring a certain amount of matches...which you have proven, SIR. It can be done at a COST. Overall Odds seem to be those "janky" numbers thrown out there based on a player simply using QP's, or, just shading in something real fast to "be in". That's cool, and, QP's have been the biggest winners...a known fact. Sentimental Self Picks have also won (lady in Virginia a while back). But, a player that truly understands how to combine their numbers, along with spending that corresponding amount, will always have the best chances (guarantee) of matching a specific amount of digits everytime on a single line. Hey, this sounds like YOU!!! Player Odds, in my opinion, vary and are dependent upon mathematical competency and the money required.
Permutation never lies...but it does COST. With that cost comes surety of results. Hope I helped.
