I think your question is valid shyguitar.

There are a lot of feelings positive and negative related to playing the lottery both for the player and for those close to him who this also affects.

It seems those feelings can be brought on by both winning and losing.

It is a choice to play or not to play so I guess you have to decide if it is worth the stress it brings you if it is bringing stress. You can always cut back or take a break for a while too if things aren't going well or if you... [ More ]

I have always taken the advice of my grandma who said, Stay away from the bottle as its a sure loser; in gambling you at least has a chance to win .

I also have family who once in a while talks me away from gambling further. I tend to appreciate their concern.

I thank you for your concern. The sadness and dejection you speak of by playing can be a common feeling when one doesn't win. In terms of my speaking to a skilled professional I have tried therapy in the past for my depression/anxiety but never was able to make progress. Does playing the lottery make my depression worse, it's really hard to say. In some ways it's the one thing I seem to look forward to when I pick up a scratch ticket or play a draw game. I have had negative people try to talk me out of buying tickets, I figure they are so miserable with their own lives, they want everybody else to be the same way..

I was raised Catholic, and I don't care what anybody say's, if I feel inclined to buy a ticket, then darn it, you bet I'll buy one..

I feel kind of guilty for playing like I'm doing something bad or wrong.

Also I found out some bad news today financial.

My insurance has denied covering my iron treatments I had back in November.

So I have a doctor bill to pay of $698.00 ouch and any more treatments I have to take will be $400 upfront. I automatically thought it was punishment because I've been playing the lottery.

On the other hand I'd rather win a little cash playing to help out with that bill and any further trea... [ More ]

No, I only live with my mum at the moment. When I ever get round to playing the Euromillions we usually just buy a ticket together or we buy ours at the same time. Life's too short to worry about extra money, why not spend a bit for that dream of becoming a millionaire over night.

There are probably $70 to $80 worth of losing tickets on my desk right now all dated from less than a week ago. Just based on that someone who didn't know I paid for those tickets from winnings on other tickets would probably think I lose over $300 a month playing the lottery and was a degenerate gambler. What my stack of losing tickets doesn't show is the $175 winning ticket I cashed yesterday.

got 1 who is a bit of a god freak. he disapproves, but as i run a family syndicte, he is too scared to pull out incase it wins and he is left out in the cold. My 3 other family members are cool with it, but one of them also thinks we will never win, but is in just incase.

I did swear that if we won after one dropped out the others could share their part, but i wouldnt.

That sherriff in Va. had the same problem with his daughter...of course he won and bought her a house....but yeah my oldest sister who in her old age has come to find God and think it's gambling by playing the lottery...I asked the same of her if I won did she not want any of the money?? Just wondering if other people like myself have their family members or friends continue to tell you to stop playing the lottery. My daughter really thinks I'm obsessed with the lottery. Last weekend I wanted to buy one scratch ticket because we were in another town and she wouldn't let up, so I didn't buy one. I'm not buying lottery tickets daily but will fully admit that I buy PB, MM and occasionally Mass Cash tickets. I also buy scratch tickets but have cut down on my spending... [ More ]
