Real charity should include your time as well as money whenever possible. Try this. Say you want to give away $2000 this year in charity. I remember when she won that and the foundation she set up was one of the good and legitimate charities that helped out many in need.

It is always a good idea to check out any charity you may want to give to no matter how well-known they are. There are a lot of big names that are scams.

Doing a Google search with the name of the charity and the word scam may give some interesting info (example: United Way scam or Komen scam ).

There is this wonderful invention called the internet. It is easy to check out a charity online. I won't post the links but there are many resources. To vilify a little old lady who gave far more to charity than most lottery winners would, says a lot. And who determines if her foundation did right? I thought you were smarter than that. Just because you know the name of a charity and what they say they are doing doesn't verify a snip thing. I hope this Ryan Foundation is doing right with the money but i don't have any access to their books do you? What are the percentages? My thought for many years if I won , was too help my Aunts and Uncles , etc. , that had worked hard all their life in the hot sun

But being as most all of them have gone on to Glory now , my thoughts these days , would be to start no kill animal shelters all over the country , to be run by responsible people

And to also help wounded veterans , and homeless veterans , and all the veterans

My wish always been to set up something for people that have Cancer , since both my parent had it along taking care of the seniors because they are always forgotten .
