Not sure who runs the computer in FL but in my state, GTech runs and we see all kinds of occurances like that here. Lots of patterns to big winners. The Gtech computer seems to run that way often.

When I buy large amount of tickets for work lottery pool, I usually will go to different stores to purchase them. One time I bought just 10 tickets, and 3 consecutive lines had the same 3 numbers. But look at the optimistic side, what if those 3 numbers is part of the winning numbers and you happen to have the other 2 or 3 numbers

Yeah, it can happen.

The occurrence of repeat combos is about as rare as winning a jackpot, or quite a bit less less depending on the range of picks.(same ticket or same store) But the likelihood of a repeat winning the jackpot is a VERY rare event. Probably about once a decade in FL Fantasy 5 in the same store.

As of the time of this post, it is still showing the 2 winning quick picks from the same store for the same drawing for 10/27/2013...if it is a misprint, sooner or later they may get around to changing it.

Where do find on their site where the tickets were purchased?

Possible that it did sell 2 QP. Unless the person totally hosed up the entry for the website, the 3 prizes add up to the estimated jackpot size since its para-mutuel.

Did you read my first post in this thread, third sentence?

To quote your post, It's not just a duplicate Quick Pick. It's a duplicate QP that also matched the drawn numbers! Now that's real long odds!

Not the same as what you were saying. Yes, long odds for a duplicate at the same store. That would be a case of conditional odds. But not for the odds of any duplicate, that is independent.

Doesn't matter. The odds of a duplicate quick pick are the same for any pick, regardless if the lottery drew it or not.

That's right. A month or two after the Texas Lottery kicked off, there was a man downstate that got two identical QP on the same ticket. I've also read about more extreme cases, one in N. Mexico where a guy got something like six identical QP tickets and one similar case in Arizona, but I believe both of those were terminal/computer glitches.

Likely a misprint but not impossible of course.

The odds of a duplicate quick pick are the same as the odds of winning. So to get the odds of a duplicate quick pick from the same store would probably be calculated using either the sales for that store versus the total sales, or using the number of stores in Florida.

According to the Florida Lottery website today there were 3 winners from the 10/27 Fantasy 5 drawing. Notice the last 2 were QuickPicks from the same store. If this is not a misprint on the website then that is a very rare event...
