You got it right there!

Why do they have to use these manipulative heavy handed sales tactics of forcing you to buy something and not giving change? It just pisses me off.

I've had a lotto kiosk machine keep rejecting a valid playslip for a game I wanted to play.(I know because I later used it successfully somewhere else) But I had to choose another game because the thing don't give change!

I prefer machines as long as they're working, but it makes me mad when my money is already in and it won't take a play slip or it's out of paper or something. They need to start making them to give change so you can get your money back instead of being forced to buy something you don't want.

It doesn't happen often, but a couple of times I've put ten bucks into a machine at the grocery store only to have it be eaten . I'm afraid to leave b/c then someone might come along behind me and get my credit. I have to wait until a store employee comes along or a sack girl/boy goes out w/ a customer's purchases and I ask them to get someone who can help me. The machine is right next to the bathrooms and once I had put in my money and was making sure I pushed the right button on one of the lot... [ More ]

I guess I'm in the minority here: I prefer humans. Maybe I'm just old fashioned.

Maybe its because the clerks that I encounter here are better, and the old crappy machines we have here worse.

I think it depends where you go. Liquor and specialty stores usually have regular established clerks and they know what they're doing. Gas stations and convenience stores often have kids or trainees and aren't always up on things. And grocery stores don't have a clerk, they only have machines.

I prefer machines. Yesterday morning I went to a gas station that I frequent. They must have hired a moron. I said to her gimme a quick pick powerball with powerplay. And then she looks at the machine like as if its the bedside clock when she's still half asleep and then says to me after almost a minute machine not working. I swore at her under my breath and left.

Since I read the rules on the back of play slips myself, I don't need a clerk to explain them to me. I also make out play slips for every drawing and I only need a clerk to run them through the terminal so if a machine allowed me to do that too then I would prefer a machine.

I like machines also...you never know what kind of mood people are in when you walk up to the counter, also when there is a line of people mainly because one person had about fifty playslips and wanted another handful of scratch-offs and is just plain difficult, then you're next in line and you want a couple of tickets and you hear the groans....yeah give me the ole machine anyday

I am aware of ATMs with the Live Chat with a Live Person feature but have not seen one.

I am curious if a hybrid Man and Machine Lottery Vending Machine is possible.

Imagine an East Asian person, half-way around the world taking your numbers and dispensing your tickets, 24x7. I guess that would be awesome to some and troubling to others.

Anyway, my favorite malfunction of Lottery Vending Machines was when I bought a $20 ticket and it dispensed 4 X $20 of them. OMG, my heart was pulsing

A machine will still have video cameras, and possibly a voice simulator.

Vending machines already malfunction as it is, so I'd hate to be in front of the machine when it says:

You have 20 seconds to comply.

Clerks are jerks.

Except for the occasional sweet thang in her daisy dukes that calls me darlin'.

I like them kinda clerks.

Given one choice over another: Machine please.

We had $52 mil MM winner from the city last year, in less than 30 days the convenient store clerk had handed the video of the winner over to the State lottery officials to air, this despite the fact that one has a Year in which to come forward and claim their prize. As can be imagined, the winner was hounded out of the city because people recognized who he was and were knocking on his door at all hours of the day asking for money.

Lottery players, myself included, have had good and bad interactions with people who have to punch our numbers. Recently, I have seen steady progress in Lottery vending machines in casinos and some stores like Wawa and locations such as the Port Authority terminal. Their designs and functionality are getting better and surely, more improvements are coming soon.
