I'd certainly say more people are addicted to scratchers given the instant gratification factor. Most people i see in the stores buying them are scratching before they even leave the store. I like scratchers, but i really enjoy drawings because i feel more involved by picking my own numbers and then the wait and see aspect as well. With scratchers bam it's over within seconds and all you got to do was scratch. Guess i like to feel like i got some kind of bang for my buck in the form of entertain... [ More ]

I'll say more people are adicted to scratchers.

I really think scratchers sre designed for Type A personality people who want to kow if they won or lost right away.

Also, not all scratcher players, but certainly enough to notice stick their money in a machine, get their scratchers, scratch them leaning on the display window of the machine (thus blocking anyone else from getting to the machine) and keep doing that until they've won something or have blown all their cash.

Thats amazing. Myself and alot of friends rarely play NY scratchers anymore because of all the losers. Most of my $$ goes to Conn.

Shy, scratchers are more addicting and i see more women buying them then men.

Odds are better on scratchers...I have won more money that way Vs the draw games...SO,

SCRATCHERS are the addictive winner..in my humble opinion.

I think any time there is no limitation on when to play (scratch-offs) or if there are multiple draws per hour (e.g., Hot Spot, our lottery Keno with draws every 4 minutes) you run a greater risk of people playing irresponsibly as they chase wins or try to win back the money they lost.

That's what I do too, I also check the odds in which you'll win. Amazingly enough it is usually the $20 and $10 ones with the best odds

Scratchers are the biggest sellers for state lotteries. People like the instant gratification. Personally, I rarely buy scratchers. When I start thinking about buying a scratch tic, I just look at the diifferent ones on TLC website, check the odds and tell myself forget it.

Just curious if people are more addicted to scratch off's or draw games? Personally I think it's much easier to have an addiction to scratch offs. One of the reasons I had to put myself on a budget was due to my slight addiction to the scratch off's. Sometimes I would buy scratchers daily or every other day and then get so bummed out when I only got back the face value of the ticket or most of the time won nothing.
