It sounds similar to Keno or Hot Spots in the US. A quick rule of thumb is: If the winning multiplier is 2x then it has a chance of being profitable as long as you have deep pockets. If you drop out at 4 draws, you will probably lose continuously in the long run.

For instance for CA Hot Spot here are two senarios:

Play 1 number, double your bet until it hits. If it hits after one draw, you'll net $1 because it pays 2:1. If it hits after 10 draws you'll win $1024 but your cummulative spend... [ More ]

In the UK they have a game based on the lottery called Lotto Hot Picks that allows you to pick between 1 and 5 numbers. If your numbers are drawn in the 6 winning numbers you win. For a 1 pound bet (anyone know how to make that symbol?) you can win 5 pounds.

So the OP is proposing to double his bet until his one number shows up.

we need a very large group to do this just imagine having to double a number 50 times until it is drawen and that is just one set of 49 numbers u can do as many sets as u like

back test this add all the draws from the lottery hot picks uk u can bet with 1 but this will get quite high so i found other ways to make it work with smaller bets u can bet 5p 0.05 instead of 1 per bet it could involve alot of doubling bets so i bet 0.05 on all 49 numbers and play every number until it comes out but doubling each bet per number every time
