I've only ever driven out of state specificially to play a lotto game once. It was before New York joined Powerball, and I drove out to Bennington, Vermont (about a 35-mile drive one way) to buy some tickets for what was then the highest Powerball jackpot ever. I don't remember if the tickets I got were for the final drawing of that run, but it was the one that Jack Whittaker eventually won for $314.9 million.

Since the closest point to the nearest lottery state for me is Arizona which is a 5-6 hour drive each way, I'm more than content with our own games plus Powerball and Mega Millions. So, I guess the answer is 1 mile to my two favorite liqour stores in town...

I drove South, got on US 30 in Lisbon, and crossed into WVA at East Liverpool. Staying on 30, Pennsylvania was only 5 miles east so it was easy to get PB and BigGame tickets. Interesting that you can play two games where the payoffs are more than the odds against winning.

Side note: I noticed that The Lotter has some other state lottos available to play, but not Ohio. Maybe you can sign up to be a butler for OCL and make some extra cash! Or Poo Nanny can take up a collection from other players for the next road trip and charge a courier fee.

A few years ago before Tx got PB, I would drive up to OK if the PB jackpot was over 100 million. It was about an hour each way. I would drive by the Winstar casino and was kinda sorta tempted to check it out, but never did. LOL.

With gas prices today, I don't think I would do that now.

I'm a Buckeye fan (being from Ohio). So I have to say that I'm hoping for a Buckeye to win. LOL. Would be nice for RJoH to win for his BD.

A couple years back when the MM jackpot was like 650M I lived in Tallahassee and Florida didn't have mega millions yet so I drove 45 minutes each way to Georgia and back. Bought 30 tickets. I ended up being late for work because I didn't anticipate how many people would actually be waiting in line to buy tickets, I had never saw that before.

Sometimes I have to drive to nearby states for my job(Maine, CT, New York, N,J) so when I do I like to play their megabucks, and lotto. I always make sure to get an advance play for as many drawings as I can. We have the PB and MM here in Mass so there's no reason to drive to far.

Sorry Poo Nanny, I was commenting about my husband and myself wasting gas. We make those trips quit frequently. Especially during the warmer months.

This past NFL season, we travelled to Delaware nearly every Saturday to play in their Lottery sponsored NFL challenge games. It was fun. I cashed in a little money, but lost more than I won.

So gas and lottery losses just don't add up to success. It adds up to fun, but not financial success.

Back in the late 80's or early 90's the PB jackpot was up around 100 mill. A group of us at work all chipped in 10 bucks for tickets. I was elected to buy the tix. Maryland didn't have PB so I had to go to Stewartstown, Pa. to get them, about a 45 minute drive. I got to the store at 7:15 AM. There was a line. The store opened at 8:00 AM. 64 miles, from Las Vegas to Nipton, CA, this was before Primm existed and Nipton was the closest place for people from Vegas to play lotto.

When MM and PB weren't in the same states, 54 miles to go to Perryville, MO from where I live in IL to play PB.

From my part of New Jersey, just 5 miles from the George Washington Bridge, I drive 10 miles up Knickerbocker Rd to the Rockland County NY State line to avoid the horrendous toll on the GWB. I know the trip was probably a waste of gas. I don't really plan on doing that very often, but I felt like a car ride and I had some time to kill today. I got to drive through Detroit on my way and I always like seeing the old buildings there. If I somehow by chance do win, I will make the ride worth it. That game prize is outrageous and having a Michigander winning it will force Ohio to change the game lol

Driving specifically to purchase lottery tickets?- have not, will not.

I recall a neighbour of mine driving from the Bay Area up to the Oregon border a few times to buy PB tickets , this was before 2013, l thought it dumb then and still do. My commute allows me to sample a few convenient stores along the way-but l do not make any special trips.

Driving 200 miles for a lottery ticket is... what's the word?- yeah that one

NH is about 35 miles from me and I remember driving there to buy some PB tickets back when we didn't have it. Their advanced play is 20 draws deep and I went in all the way. Sadly the trip was a waste

I live in mid Ohio not too far from the intersection of US 30 and US 23. Before PB and MM came to Ohio I would drive west on US 30 100 mi. to Indiana for PowerBall tickets and north 100 mi. on US 23 to Michigan for BigGame tickets. That was 10 years ago when I was a young and foolish 62 years old.

Technically, zero.

I have never or would never drive somewhere specifically to play a lottery game.

I have occasionally bought lottery tickets at a gas stations or grocery store, but I was there anyway for gas or groceries, so lottery was a secondary purchase. I choose gas stations by convenience or by best price with an app, not for lottery. Grocery store also, convenience or sales/specials.

I bought 20 tickets for Saturday and I bought one ticket with two sets of numbers for five draws. I also bought five tooling five, one mega and one powerball. I wasn't planing on buying the mega and powerball, but when I got gas I bought them. I got the other tickets at a party store.

Decades ago when NM didn't have a lottery, I drove about 30 miles to Colorado to play the Powerball. Just once tho.

I hate to admit this, but I drove to Ohio today to get some tickets for their classic lotto game. Round trip was about 200 hundred miles. I had a half day today and as a michigan fan, I would love to steal thIs games money out of the state of ohio. I also bought some rolling five tickets because that game also had a good jackpot.
