Just saw the winning couple on the local news, here's what I saw...

-Check was in her name...

-Said she bought it at a grocery store(didn't specify)

-Quick Pick

-Said it was the first time she had ever bought a ticket(didn't specify if it was any lottery ticket or just a powerball ticket

Just a quick reply ... yes on the Match 6 game in PA I want all doubles and triples ... they may not come out but if they do, a person can make a few dollars trying for the jackpot. I started the other thread on 6-49 games. I hate a ticket that does not have any doubles or triples on it ... if you can't win the jackpot that week then maybe a person can get playing money back for the next week ... got to have repeat numbers to at least break even.

From my understanding, the terminal generates the quickpick numbers itself. The issue of repeating numbers across multiple plays is a common one with quickpicks. Interesting observation about numbers trending low. Not something I've noticed, but also wasn't paying attention to it - will from now on.

For traditional 3, 4, and 5 digit games, there's an easy work-around to avoid various numbers - player can choose the first x-digits and then have the remainder quickpicked. There could be a work... [ More ]

Also being from PA, I agree with with what you posted ... it does help that in PA (and some other states also) we are currently free from PA state taxes but a new Governor just got elected so who can say what new ideas he may have in mind.

Also agree that a person has to win two million to really be a true millionaire ... in PA, with just Federal tax to consider ... maybe 1.5 million would make a person a true millionaire with a few extra dollars plus.

As far as I understand its all completely random, so it shouldn't make a difference where the ticket is bought. I personally wouldn't get friends involved because friends and money can be a messy combination

Okay... A few more points.

I wouldn't worry about the perceived luck or unluckyness of your state. (I am also in the camp that believes that QPs are completely random and the ping pong balls are completely random.)

If you want to mix it up, go to Oregon or Idaho some weekend and buy some Advanced Play tickets. Get a months worth of draws at a time.

-The two states I was referring to was WA KY, I'm from WA, he's in KY... I originally brought this up to him because they have the monopoly millionaires game and we do not, with no plans currently for 2015 as far as I know... You will not win just because you buy tickets in a state that wins often. How many Californians and New Yorker's are in LP and will tell you they have never matched 4+1 in either MM or PB despite playing religiously for years?

There was an LP guy from TX who matched 4+1 in Powerball last year. He showed us the evidence and all.

What STATE do you live in, and play in ???

Let's use some common sense here.

If you're playing your own numbers, then obviously it does not matter which state you play in.

If you play by Quick Picks, another state's QPs aren't necessarily any better than you riding around in your own state purchasing QPs in different locations.

I don't recommend sending anyone money to buy you tickets unless you really trust them to do the right thing and send you the ticket. Your chances of winning the PB/MM jackpot aren't going to get better just because your friend is in a state that wins more.

Stick with buying your own tickets because if you do win you're not going to have to deal with the hassle of someone else maybe holding your winning ticket or claiming it is theirs. Money, especi... [ More ]

Firstly, the Powerball drawing, which still uses the traditional bingo like balls, is held in only one location, so the particular state one plays in makes no difference in regards to hitting the jackpot.

The biggest factor for the states lead in the jackpots is the number of players in them who participate - it's no surprise California and New York are at the top. That is a hard question, this is your friend that you will send money too. What if your ticket wins, will your friend be honest with you about your winning ticket? If you do send the money, have your friend take a pic of your ticket, and also play the lottery in your state also. There is no guarantee that things will go smoothly with your friend unless he is willing to buy your ticket and send it to you before the drawing. Hello all,

I've been a member here since february of this year, but most of my questions are usually answered by lurking, so I haven't posted yet...

I finally found a question I needed answered. I regularly play PB, but recently on their winners website I noticed that my state has not had a jackpot winner from as far back as the records go-2003(I'm assuming that's when the game was started). I have a good friend in another state that has had 4 jackpot winners since 2003.
