If the clerks at the retailer actually buy the tickets, I really don't have a problem with it. I or any other random player could stand at a vending machine when the lucky number is close and do the same thing. Feed hundred dollar bills in and keep pushing the button.

My problem is that the retailers could do it without risking any money, by selling the non-instant win tickets to their unsuspecting customers.

Definitely way too easy to game, especially for retailers. A better way would be selecting a random ticket out of every 25,000 sold. Very easy to program, and difficult to abuse. As it stands now, a retailer can wait for low as 24,950 (or multiple of) and then hit the machine hard and buy 50 tickets and double their money, plus have 50 raffle chances too. In reality, most retailers seeking to abuse this would likely buy a few tickets or less, and yet still have a decent chance of getting the $10... [ More ]

I just thought of a way a retailer could game this instant win. Our state website has a countdown of tickets sold that's updated very frequently. It looks like every minute or two. A retailer could keep checking and when it gets close just keep printing tickets until the 25,000th one is sold. Maybe their machine would be the one to print it, maybe not.

Then they could do like they always do with mistake tickets. Put one in the machine and sell it to the next person who wants a raffle ticket.... [ More ]

I'd so much rather see them cut the $25 prizes way back and use 2000 of those for two $25K prizes instead.

I for one do not look at the list of prizes and see all those $25 level prizes and think Ooooh, maybe I'll spend $10 for a chance at THAT! Nope, I look at that and think there are probably better things to spend my ten bucks on.

I was planning on buying several tickets this year, but I think I'll stick with just one with that matrix. Looks like Oregon will be getting my raffle busine... [ More ]

They've been trying for years to get people to buy tickets earlier. This year they're offering a $5,000 prize (awarded in a drawing) to someone who buys a ticket in the first 10 days. And they are giving an instant $1,000 prize to the person who buys each 25,000th ticket.

I coulda sworn there used to be a two or four $25,000 prizes, but none this year. I don't like the prize matrix at all.

TWICE IN A LIFETIME!
