The thrill is gone. Too many drawings per year. I'm leaning towards not buying a ticket

at all but I do have loads of time to change my mind.

I might be more inclined to buy if the tickets weren't sold in sequence. They should try

that.

For now, I have no desire to buy a ticket and don't care about the odds being best for

winning a million dollars.

Color me surprised. I thought the lottery would have been embarrassed by the poor sales but they are chugging along, I don't feel bad for them, they are still making money. I can't see my self buying a ticket for at least a month. No reason to buy that early.

Yep, that's what they've done. Raffle sales begin May-3rd and runs to July-9th 8:00 pm. 500,000 tickets available with same prize structure as usual. No changes.

Surprised to see the raffle continuing. It could be PA Lottery isn't overly concerned about past low sales, or, very possibly, they had already committed to 4 raffles for the year, regardless. There were only 11 days between the end of the new years raffle and the start of the st patricks day raffle. Maybe they will wait until May to start the 4th of July raffle

Interesting indeed. Last couple of years, the bulletin has been published by early April. However, sometimes PA Lottery has waited until just before raffle start. Assuming the raffle starts 3rd week of April, expect to see a bulletin posted next week or the following. If nothing by April 22nd, odds are the raffle is on hiatus indefinitely.

Another observation, though not directly related, the PA Lottery News section no longer mentions when Pick-3 triples are drawn. Doubt many people noticed,

Million dollar winners were sold in Franklin, Blair, Carbon, and Venango Counties. Surprised to see these relatively rural counties hit it big.

5 of us at work bought three tickets each. Only two of us were willing to split it if it was the million dollar win.

None of us won a dime. Its timing and location.

i like that someone suggested a re vamping of prize payout provided it lowers the ticket output from 500,000 tickets to 350,000.

Maybe make it 3 winners for 1 million , and more 1 k tickets. :)

or they could make it a 10$ ticket with 500,000$ grand prize. Ohh the possibilities

Congrats on the win! I noticed in the last time in the PA Bulletin that the date of the bulletin was only 2 days prior to the start of the beginning of the raffle. I believe there were about 10 days or so from the new years drawing to the start of the St. Patricks day drawing, so maybe in a week or so we will know if there is another raffle. The lottery still made over a million dollars, so they aren't hurting, but they probably see the writing on the wall and will go back to 2 per year or restr... [ More ]

Only bought one ticket this time, and actually won something. Hit for $100. Not a huge win, but still surprised to see my number match. The better than normal odds of winning a prize paid off for many: 1 in ~51.6 verses 1 in ~83.3.

The four $1 million top-prize raffle ticket numbers selected were: 64525, 121846, 187015, and 291226.

The four $100,000 second-tier prize raffle ticket numbers selected were: 23678, 58112, 115824, and 165025.

Looks like someone who waited until the day of sales won a million bucks.

309,639 tickets were sold (62%, worst ever in 23 drawings), 1.1 million dollars in profit for the lottery. Odds of hitting 1 million or 100K were 1 in 77,410.

I too would rather they don't sell out. I doubt they're going to.

I bought my first ticket (I split the cost of it with my friend at work) in mid to late February, and we were content to buy only one. That's because I run a pool at work with a total of eight guys, and the pool buys 16 tickets for both the New Years and July 4th raffles.

17 hours ago, I got one and it was at nearly 260,000 so 9 hours later, they sold 11,000.

I just bought three tickets.

They're selling at a wicked pace because the timestamp on all three is 15:57, but the spread between the number on the first ticket and last ticket is 14!

2712XX range. They should easily make it to 300k to 310K sold. G5

Ive got 1 ticket for Oregons St Patricks Day Raffle. Maybe 3rd times a charm? I always seem to get curious when its already sold out, and rarely participate. So this time I tried to get one pretty quick after sales started.

Coworker bought a ticket this AM, 243000 range, so selling at 13000 per day with 2.5 days remaining. 310000 looks reasonable for sales. 1 in 78000 odds of hitting it big. 35000 tickets behind the Halloween drawing and growing. If the lottery changes their mind and switches back to the raffle twice a year, I could see why with the slow sales. A spokesman for the lottery reaffirmed that all prizes will be awarded to no matter how many tickets are sold which is good because sales are 30,000 behind the Halloween raffle . 230000 tickets sold to date with 3 days remaining. Looks like around 310000 should sell.

With just 9 days remaining until the drawing, I would think that we're now in that rush to buy tickets window.

Although it's been discussed many times here for other raffle drawings, I'm always amazed by it. Not only have I seen the mad dash to buy tickets at the last minute in PA, but when Connecticut had their millionaire raffles, it occurred there as well.

While daily sales have greatly increased, sales are still 25,000 behind the Halloween drawing with the same number of days remaining. I expect a big advertising bombardment from the lottery to try to boost sales. Looking to sell around 335, 000 tickets or so, that would put odds of winning a million around 1 in 84000 or close to it. If 335,000 tickets do sell, that puts the half way mark for sales on March 9., which is 58 days into the ticket sale window, which shows how much people wait to the

I will have to revise my estimate downwards slightly. Sales should hit 150,000 tomorrow, which puts it 4 days behind, equivalent to 20,0000 tickets or so, from the sales from the Halloween drawing. About 5,500 tickets on avg sold per day.

I agree, I like the slightly better odds myself, which is why I'm so tempted to buy a few more tix.

But there is a lot of hype about the odds too.

Yes, 500,000 to 4 odds is mathematically the same as 125,000 to 1. But that's only on paper.

To be able to see why I say there's a lot of hype about the odds think of the drawing this way:

I agree, sales would have to average 22k per day sold from here on out and that certainly won't happen, it might happen the last week though. I predict only 340000 will sell.

I went back and looked at the Halloween thread, and sales are lacking now compared to the same number of days remaining and that raffle only sold around 356000. During the Halloween raffle 123000 were sold with 22 days remaining and were selling at 6000 average per day. The 150000 mark was hit with 18 days left. I a... [ More ]

Tickets went on sale Jan 11, as of today, with 23 days until the drawing, sales are at a slow 106K sold, with an average of under 2,400 per day sold. Hoping it stays well below sell out numbers to increase the odds slightly and that the lottery sticks to the drawing date of March 19, which is two days after St. Partrick's Day.
