I have friends that say:

You will never win the lottery. Money is not that important. While at the same time save almost every extra dollar they have. Afraid to just go out and enjoy things in life.

Now, I'm not the kind of person that is critical with what people choose to do with their money. However, you can't make someone believe that money is not that important while at the same time turn down opportunities to go out and do things because it costs a little bit of money. So... [ More ]

Winning a jackpot or a large sum of money may not buy me true happiness but it would sure pay off all of our debt and allow me to give the money to the school I have worked at for years, which the state has been failing to do. Exactly true.

Frankly, if all these people already have true or ultimate happiness now, I don't understand why they're bothering to play the lottery. I don't care if they're playing just for the rush, to pay for a loved ones medical care or in order to give it all away. They all play because they're getting some happiness from it that the lack of that money is not giving them.

Absolutely. Having plenty of money can eliminate the problems that are caused by not having money, and it can buy things that will provide some happiness, but the money itself can't make you happy. It definitely can't buy absolute happiness, because it can't solve or eliminate everything that can make you unhappy.

U don't have to be a millionaire to be happy. Many of my associates are quite comfortable being a Thousandaire ($250K + a year).

I have 1 house and don't need 5; also my 1 Ferrari is enough. I definitely don't need a stable of 10+ cars.

Am I happy all the time, snip NO! but am I content for the most part, Indeed I am!

I think that it's unfortunate that some define their happiness in this life by how much money they have. If your not truly happy without money you won't be truly happy with money. True happiness is how you live your life and who you are, and the gifts of those you have been blessed with in your life which money can not produce or buy.

Winning the lottery would make me happier because I would be able to spend my time as I wish, but it wouldn't buy ultimate happiness for me.

If I won a huge jackpot and had my name and face plastered all over the news, I would probably worry more about strangers/criminals eyeing my money and my family's safety, not relatives and friends looking for handouts.

Yes MotoX2 - but that wasnt what was asked. What was asked was would you rather be miserable rich or happy poor. With those 2 options I would have to choose happy poor.

However, while I do not think that money = happiness. Money does = less stress and more opportunities.

Yes unfortunately money can bring happiness as a Catholic I'm suppose to believe money is evil. But face it money pays the bills and puts food on the table and a peace of mind that you have a roof over your head. Also winning the lottery allows you to buy or do things you never could do with empty pockets.

Ultimate happiness? Define it. I say no. However, it can buy happiness which allows you the ability to achieve ultimate happiness. Personally, I would just settle to be happy by not having to worry about bills, being able to travel, pursue hobbies, and to perform works of charity. That's enough for me.

Being a African American i would say yes in this case. People say that money can't buy happiness , but tell that to people are living pay check to pay check like most everyone is. Alot people say that don't want to deal the other family members that come out out of their caves , that want a piece of want u have. I am good in saying no but hell no.
