I remember watching The Millionaire as a kid. That I remember a show that ended before 1960 did almost certainly means I was watching reruns, though probably still in the early 60's.

I'd also thought of the show in terms of the people who said they wouldn't take money from a stranger. $20 bucks isn't all that much to most people, so it's not difficult to turn down. 5 draws powerball (separate tickets, each with the same numbers) and

5 draws megamillions (separate tickets, each with the same numbers).

Paranoid much? Anything somebody gives you, regardless of the reason could be stolen. Of course it's pretty unlikely. What's extremely unlikely is that somebody would have stolen money and then be handing it out to strangers. People who steal stuff have a tendency to keep it for themselves.

I'm going to change my answer from 1 $20 scratcher to 4 $5 scratchers... better chance of winning something, and since it's free play, it doesn't have to have a top prize of hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars. Four chances to win a few hundred dollars would be fine.

I agree. I guess I have a big city mentality. I do not see where anyone is freaking out here. Some people are just greedy and would take this money in a second. A lot of people would need that money before I ever would. Give it to a player in need.

There are many stories about people paying off all the lay-aways for strangers at Walmart and other stores. It's usually called the holiday spirit , gift giving , kettle stuffing etc. Should the Salvation Army be paranoid and question where every dollar in their kettles comes from too?

I gave real clerks real tips and none of them asked if the money was stolen so why should they question a hypothetical gift?
