My first question would be, how have they dealt with this in the past? If there is a rule, No Pay, No Play, then okay you're out for that drawing. But if there is no rule and they let them in last time and won't let you in now, what does that tell you?

Here's what you do..Randomly pick two numbers of syndicate numbers...Play a key wheel using those two numbers. Play as many tickets that you can afford. As for the rest of the numbers you play...use the syndicate numbers or add in other numbers or do a mix of both..Just change it up. 99.9% they won't win anything significant. So this is your opportunity to mix things up and go against the grain this one time.

It sounds like there's a moron in charge. If the pool plays the same numbers how will they deal with not having your contribution? Either they don't play some of the numbers or they figure out another way to pay for them. If they don't want you back, find another group to play with or start your own syndicate.

Why don't they play every drawing and only once a week? What if their numbers were drawn on the day they didn't play?

The probability of winning is the same whether you pick the same numbers or different numbers. But if you pick different numbers, then there is no chance of having to share the jackpot.

yes we use the same numbers every week - we only do one day a week -

the draw isn t until the end of the week ( and one more week after that )

the person who arranged it all said that the reason they can t add me is because they can t be bothered as they re busy.

Although i have offered to pay for the time spent adding me ( just buying my number ) which I offered to log in and do myself.

Do yourself a favor and stop playing with that syndicate. It doesn't bode well that nobody out of 30 covered for you the first time you missed, where's the holiday spirit? LOL.

If it's making you super anxious maybe take a break from playing the lottery for a while. It's supposed to be a fun and harmless diversion, not a source of stress.

A pool might be smart enough to have an agreement that includes a prohibition against members playing the pool's number on their own, as that would dilute the pool's winnings in the unlikely event they win a jackpot.

Absent such a clause there's no certainty how a ruling would go in the event of a lawsuit, but if a member reduced the pool's winnings by playing the same numbers I think there's a pretty good chance that there would be a lawsuit. You don't need a good argument to file the lawsui... [ More ]

Don t see the problem? How can the syndicate claim copyright on numbers?

I would just play those numbers once, keep it for myseld and enter the syndicate next draw again.

Does the group play the same numbers all the time or get quick pick tickets?

How would you know what numbers to play if you played on your own?

Is it worth putting up all that money to get the same numbers as the group?

If 30 people put in $10 each, you are talking about a $300 cost.

I would recommend not playing at all for the next drawing.

But if you must play, then I recommend you pick numbers that are NOT the syndicate's set of numbers. Your chances of winning are no different. If you win anything substantial (small prizes could be won by both but no one will care), the syndicate will not win and you will not have to share the jackpot with the syndicate. If you want to play the syndicate's numbers on your own without fear of being sued, just put in writing to whomever runs the syndicate that you are not participating with the syndicate for that drawing because you missed the payment date, and that you're playing the syndicate's numbers on your own with your own money for that drawing. I have been in the syndicate for years and this is the first missed payment ( missed by 1 day ) as soon as i noticed i offered to pay - 1 day after payment was expected.

i was wondering if anyone knew how this would work,

so i missed my first ever payment for a syndicate which i am in and nobody covered it for me so i didn't get included - 30 people.

Could i use all the numbers from our syndicate and buy these myself? its made me super anxious at the thought of a win?
