I used to play one ticket of each, for every drawing.

I am scaling back. I haven't set my new budget yet but my previous budget was $29 a week.

I may bring that down to $14 a week maybe.

I have also had such arguments with myself, do I play everyday, once a week or do I play once or twice a month.

I used to play everyday based on the game available on that day.

Monday, Wednesday and Saturday - I would play one Powerball ticket with power play.

Tuesday and Friday - Mega millions with the multiplier.

On Thursday and Sunday would play lucky for life.

Took a one month vacation out of the USA and when I came back I have only played each game once a week.

I made a small profit playing RC5 but the system required filing out five play slips every drawing. The KY Lottery created a 5/39 game with the jackpot growing a minimum of $5000. Ohio's version pays $1 for matching 2 numbers, $10 for matching 3 and $300 for a 4 number match. KY's version pays has a dollar ticket, but it pays nothing for matching 2 numbers, $5 for matching 3, and $250 for matching 4.

I gave up on the powerball after a year of playing. Three dollars a ticket and 69 numbers is ridiculous. In year four of my rolling cash five journey. Data getting better by the day. 1838 draws deep. Patterns are starting to show their colors.

The ticket cost of both MM and PB (and odds ) make it expensive to play even a few tickets every drawing especially playing other games too. So I only play when it's more likely the jackpot will be won, but over time It's probably a wash and I'll spend the same amount either way.

Putting all into one, failure isn't an option because the rest of the time is going to be very boring. Shouldn't be on a whim like buying all the quick picks for one draw. Work out a strategy you can afford and stick to it.

Tonight is a perfect example how randomness can throw stats right out the window. The rolling cash five winning numbers were 1-6-8-10-17. I had 6 as my key on 21 tickets. I managed to get 2 of 5 nine times. I was never going to play four numbers from 1 to 10. I not playing a sum of 42 or even 52. There are other stats, Statstalker. If I threw them at you, it would only confuse you more. If I would've played 300 tickets using 6 as my key. 3 of 5 guaranteed. I might have won half my money back. 4... [ More ]

That's a great question. Which day to pick is the problem. You need data that sticks out like a sore thumb that narrows things down to a point where 300 tickets or so might get you that elusive jackpot. Of course, it takes only one ticket to win, and you would have a chance every drawing if you consistently play each drawing. However, if you were to buy a large number of tickets once a month, you would have significantly more chances to win on that particular drawing.

What are your thoughts
