To Kp2O3, The probability of remaining not drawn for Pick 3 must be 0.999^n and for a digit it is 0.9^n, in which n=number of draws. Thus there is no absolute probability for either case. But when the calculated number approaches zero it is practically certain that all numbers have been drawn. Bertil

Probability rules this thread, not odds or possibilities. The odds of a given number appearing in any draw is 1::1,000. But the odds of any numnber appearing twice will be 1::1 after somewhere between 300 and 400 draws - if one is interested I'll work the math out to a more exact number. But this means that in 1,000 consecutive draws, at least one three-digit number will NOT appear, since a duplicate draw has occurred. In actuality, in 1,000 consecutive draws, the probability is that one straigh... [ More ]

Hey KP, how's it going? I think that you are trying to get too complicated. I don't know if this will help you or not, but here goes...Anything IS possible...it's POSSIBLE that the sun will not come up tomorrow, but not probable. But, when you are dealing with a finite number of objects, in this case the numbers 0 thru 9 in positions A, B, or C, all you have to be concerened with is the law of averages. And that can best be described, in my own simplistic way, as given that ALL things are equal... [ More ]
